Thank you for everyone who did give me advise, and some not so much. I bought the 1969 Barracuda 340. This car will be a mother and son project. My son is 16. He raced Motocross since he was 10. Unfortunately he had a bad accident July 30,2023 during a race. He was helicopter, air ambulanced to the children's hospital, where we spent 3 weeks. The specialists told us his career is over. He has 2 brain bleeds and a couple fractured vertebrae. So that being said I want to introduce him to the hot rod world. He already has the race blood!! So I'm hoping he will find a new passion within this car.
I will be looking for some help along the way and looking forward to getting to know you all.
We towed the car home.
We did get it running enough to hear it a little. it sounds awesome!
We figured it needs a fuel pump, so got one today.
That's the next step.
I don't answer during the week because im not online much, as i work long days
I've attached pics of my boy and his friend.
getting excited

Well good luck with it! Feel free to hit us up for advice. I hope it turns out real nice.

good on ya!

there is a vast well of information available here, and the search function while not great, is a valuable resource.

get over here and download a service manual: Service Manuals – MyMopar

best of luck on the new adventure and sending good vibes for your son. remember, the end of one chapter is just the beginning of another!

Congrats from another fish owner! Show the young lad to the forum as well.
Sorry to hear of your son's accident, dangerous sport for sure as most fun ones are unfortunately.
Lots of knowledgable members here. Some ya gotta weed thru lol. :canada:

Awesome. Welcome to FABO once again. I figured it was a runner. I think you got a decent project from the pics you showed us. You will find everything you need to know here.

I see you called it a 340 car. Is the engine a 340? That can be seen cast onto the drivers side of the block. It will have a date and an engine displacement.

Oh ya, head over to the members restorations and start a build thread for us to follow and assist. If you want!

Welcome. And a '69 fish project? Let the healing get to next level.

I believe the tops of the A-body world.

Congrats on the project and welcome to FABO from Arizona! Despite what happened in your other thread, this really is a great group. We've had a rash of "fake" profiles, so some of us are a little gun shy.

Looking forward to seeing your progress, and I hope your son's recovery is a full one.

Great car for a young man. I hope you both enjoy the ride back to the road with it. And I agree, lead the young man to FABO, he will find a lot of help here, despite some knuckleheads here and there.

Awesome! Hope he heals up well and takes to working on his new barracuda!

Welcome from WI. Congrats on the new project. There are some great people here at FABO. Dont let some get under your skin.

Well I can relate to the Motocross. Fun while it lasts, but the body can take the abuse for only so long before you have to move on to something else anyway. Hot rodding is the next best thing! Best of luck on the project.

Best of luck on this project. I think it is awesome. I will admit I have heard of father, son projects, but this is the first time I ever heard of a mother son project. I think that is extra awesome. From what I see, you have a 69 barracuda fastback in F8 green. That’s what I have. Nothing better. This website is a wealth of information. My grandson loves to go on rides in my car. He especially loves it when I screetch the tires a little.

CONGRATS on picking up what looks like a great project and sticking it out with us here despite the unwarranted BS slung your way.

There's more than a few members here that owe you an apology !

Sorry about the accident and its great that he has recovered.
A few suggestions to add.
1. Save the old parts - especially if they are factory. Sometimes they are very useful reference or later you figure out they weren't bad and the problem was something else. New replacement and performance parts quality is generally spotty. For example aftermarket 'performance' fuel pumps have in recent years had excessively high cut off pressures.

2. The internet can be a wonderful thing. In addition to the service manual, one can look up service bulletins and sales literature, as well as Chrysler's Master Technician Conference. The MTSC answers many questions about how systems work, tips for techs, and sometimes even addresses myths (that existed before the internet! LOL). All right from mother Mopar, not some self proclaimed expert looking for attention or your CDN. ;)

Lets see, from the '69 Plymouth Service Manual

BH29 translates to Barracuda 2-door spoorts hardtop
F 318 cid V-8
9 Model year 1969
B Hamtramck Assembly Plant

From the 1971 revision of the '69 parts catalog
E44 is 318
D12 is A230 C/S (column shift ?)

I think
H6X is standard black interior and X9 Black velvet exterior

What's in it now you or your son will have to figure out. Its part of the fun.
I spy a later or replacement radiator. Check clearences, if its fitted nicely then it will be no problem. It may have a later engine (waterpump outlet on passenger side).

I'm not too big That I cannot apologize.

If I said something out of the way, you have my humble apopolgy, @sweetlea but you need to understand, as said previously, we've had a rash of fake profiles and they all start out with the same story. "I'm a single mom and I bought a project" or some such. So forgive me if something I said was a bit rough.

Thank you everyone. I understand there are trolls all over the internet and I understand. I'm not taking it to heart.
I'm excited to be here and I know lots of you will help us along the way.

I'm definitely feeling more welcome now.

Thanks for all the encouragement and tips as I'm a little nervous I've got a big project ahead

I jus wanna say;
I'm 70 years old, recently retired, there is not one part of a 67/8/9 Barracuda that I have not had in my hands or at least put my hands on, I have spare parts, and; I am less than 5.5 hrs from Regina.
I have had 2nd Gen Barracudas almost continuously since 1976, sometimes several at once. I currently have a 69 BH29P9B; which is an E55-D32-T3-A53-A86 car. The Bill of sale says I bought it June 26/81. The seller said he was Second owner. Sadly, I will never be able to afford to restore it. so
I built a Formula S clone-car out of a BH29B8B, E21-D5-plain jane car, bought Sept6,1978, again off a second owner.

I Highly recommend to get; a picture album, a book-binder, and maybe a garage fridge; then start documenting for posterity. These times in your two lives will never come again, and it will never again be as exciting as it is right now. Congratulations and
May God bless you both.

BTW
When my son began to drive it; I installed an extra-capacity oilpan, kept extra oil on the shelf nearby, installed a new set of tires, kept a spare engine on hand; and, and, some spare body panels; but thankfully, I never needed any of that....... well except for tires but that was not my son's do-ings, lol.
Enjoy!
