''I'm going to fix it up someday'' The resurrection of a '74 Dart Sport......

Holy shoot! :tongue10: Forkin' hay bubba, you got right at it. It does look way better in one color. Was the stripe tough to get right? Cool, when is the inspection booked for?!! :thumbrig::thumbrig:

Yeah, it changes the car a lot.
The stripe wasn't too bad, we used 3m striping tape to get the lines sharp.
The inspection is a couple of months away, i still have to do the driver's side quarter repairs and the 8 3/4 fix up and installation.
Make that 3 months! :D

Awesome awesome job well done... Definitely subscribed...

Thanks for the kind words, i like your build thread a lot.
I may be a bit prejudiced though, i have a '69 Valiant 2 door post that looks a lot like yours before you painted it!
That one is next! \\:D/

Not much to report, just catching up with some detailing like installing the air cleaner decals and other little things.
I got the decals from Dale's Cuda Shop, good parts and great service.
The wheel alignment is done now too!
I'm waiting for parts to come in for my 8 3/4 from Dr.Diff.

Thanks Scott,
Yeah, it has come a long way, and the fun isn't over yet........
Work on it, wait for parts, work on it etc.
I have all of the parts either ordered or in my grubby little hands to finish it as of today.
And i still plan on having it on the road and insured in a couple of months!

Pretty decent paint job for spray bombs. Looks good. I am wondering how my grill ended up on your car though. My sport mirrors are missing too. Keep up the good work.:coffee2:

Yeah it turned out ok, it's kind of semi gloss which is ''in'' these days. The whole car is sort of faded, so it sort of matches. :glasses7:
As for the grille and sport mirrors, you said i could have them because they weren't good enough for your car.
Thanks!

Well, I have been sober for almost 14 years, So it is quite possible that I did say that. I apologize for forgetting. I am looking for a good set. Keep up the good work.:coffee2:

Congrats on your sobriety, Thunder.
If i find an extra set of mirrors, you are first on my list to get them.

I like seeing people doing the Dart Sports , nice to see some interest in these cars .

Thanks, kt.
Yes, i have a fondness for them too, there are a few more waiting in the wings that i plan to fix up (some day).
As a matter of fact, the ''Dart Sport'' fender emblems on the car are the ones i bought from you a couple of years back here on FABO. Do you remember that?
I'm very happy with them and i think they look great on the car.
I think the ''beak'' cars are the Rodney Dangerfield of the a bodies.
''They don't get no respect!'' lol
Oh well, more for us that appreciate them i guess. :D
I always loved the look of your car, it's always been a toss up between yours and pettyblue's car for the nicest Dart Sport on the site.

You know Adam, i wish you would finish your Duster instead of selling it.
When would you ever get another rust free car where you live?
I wish mine was as nice as yours body wise!
I have to walk away from it at times to have a break, but it will get done eventually.
The rear diff is almost done and ready to install......

Well, i guess it's time to get my rear end in gear and update this thread. (Literally!)
I decided to put in a B Body 8 3/4 in the car. I wanted to do this so the wheels will be centered in the wheel housing so i can run a 255-60-15 on a stock offset 15X7 rallye wheel.
Other advantages to going this route is i will have the big bolt pattern automatically by doing this. A friend of mine did this on his '71 Demon and it fit and worked perfectly!
All that was needed to do to make it fit was move the spring perches in 1/2'' on each side.
I actually cut off the old ones and welded on new ones, cleaned up the rear end housing, and painted it.
The rear end was complete that i pulled out of my '69 Super Bee years ago to put in a Dana 60. The gears are 3:23 sure grip in a 489 case but need replacing due to the crush sleeve getting loose.:banghead:
Here's what i started with........

Now for some dissassembly, welding, and clean up.

More cleaning and some paint!

Some new parts......
And some cleaned up old ones!
The Gears and bearings are from Dr.Diff and are 3:55's.
I got the crush sleeve eliminator as well, great guy to deal with!
