Does anyone have any experience with this intake on a stroked W2-headed smallblock (400-426ci)?
Just curious how it stacks up against the Victor or similar large plenum single plane intakes. They’re listed for $500, are they worth the extra dough over the others?

No, but I have been told that if your going for max power and your racing, THAT is the intake you want to use. I had one and no actual use for it at the time. I can tell you that it is a very generous plenum! And very tall.

Steve Dulich (?) did build a W2 with one I think in a MoPar Muscle article. He did a couple of W2 headed builds but I do not remember a direct shoot out between another intake. For certain he used a tunnel ram on one build.

Thanks Rumble. I’ll see if I can dig up those articles.
It’s not a max effort engine but if it’s worth 25hp or more, I’d be into it. Hood clearance is not an issue.

I had a stout w5(422) motor few years back. Brett Miller( very well known in small block circles for making big power) had modified a Victor W2 to use on a W5 motor he had. He spent a lot of effort on it.
I ended up buying that intake. Had both that and the Indy intake on my motor and didnt see enough on the time slips to favor one over the other. I ended up running the victor because it had more hood clearance with the hood scoop i had( hemi dart scoop)
I doubt very seriously you would see 25 horse difference if both manifolds are massaged to fit your combo.
That said, the Indy is a nice intake, and really works well with the bigger port window of the Indy small block heads.
On something like the 245cc head it might really shine compared to a Victor W2, havent had that head to verify if that would be the result, but that huge plenum would have to be an advantage on a bigger inch motor running some rpm
The fact is most of these heads are too small to support 420+ inch motors with long arms, bigger plenum intake isn't going to be a bandaid to fix that.

Thanks B3. Good info. Was the Indy you ran heavily worked like the Victor? Or as cast?
Motor is 422” (4” arm) with older W2s (306@.600”). How high did you wind that motor?

Exactly! For a 422 race engine, to take advantage of it, the W2/5 isn’t enough head. While it can do well on the strip and street, at the track your looking aat a different head for max output.

Now back to what you have and not what you don’t have. I think a e-mail to Ryan J (who has been very helpful to me.) @shaddydellspeedshop is the best route to investigate for information and I’d bet a more than likely “Been there and dyno tested it.” answer.

If it can make more power than other intakes, It may be more application dependent based on what you have running now.

Please do so share the answers when you get them.

Rusty I remember reading about that. I think it was in the mopar muscle magazine a long time ago. Also I think they was building the engine for Markos 68-69 barracuda convertible ?

I don’t remember the engine being built for anything specific. I do remember a build with the air y intake.
I also remember a couple of W2 builds and one was with a tunnel ram. “Iron Hammer” maybe?
It was also a stroker engine @ 408 IIRC.
