Post a photo of the part you trimmed
To add to that, part of the reason for doing this would be to not have to spend a fortune re-chroming original plastic pieces, does anyone know where to purchase a matching glove box cover to replace that plastic Chrome original?
I have not, it fits where it's supposed to. But the screws don't line up which isn't a big deal to me.@Jonathan Paulsen, @Dartsun, @70DartATL, @Texas69dart340. Have any of you guys had success getting this gauge cluster installed? I want to purchase for my 67 Dart and I don't mind cutting the original Dash frame, just wondering if anyone has completed this.
If you put up an ad I bet you can get a 67 control for cheap. Or checkout the local wrecking yard for 72??? Pickup. It uses the same 67 swing lever controlI have 73 to 76 A/C heater controls complicating my situation.
You are aware the box mounts different 67-72 vs 73-76 the firewall is different. The holes for the heater hoses may be different too73-76 A/C components except for the compressor
maybe it was the hard way but with the parts and time available it's often the best choice.Yes...probably did it the hard way but it's done!View attachment 1716496440View attachment 1716496441
That would be fantastic! I'm expecting it to be a lot of work but I think it will be worth it in the end. My Dash is out of the car and I plan on doing all the modifications on my bench.I actually worked with Classic Dash on the development of this product. I furnished them a complete dash to do the design work. Yes you do have to cut the metal structure to make it work. I can post a picture of the dash showing the modifications that will have to be done. This installation isn't for the faint at heart. Since you cut your dash frame there is no going back.
#1. Using gauges that don't stick out the back very far will make it a lot easier to get in and back out.
#2. Wire it before you install it with a plug that you can unplug. It might take more than one. Plus it's going be in and out several times as you make things fit.
#3. With the thickness of the dash you will find the dash knobs won't just install like they originally did.
I'm going to have to get some pictures of the other dash where I have it stored and it is already cut out. I will have to continue this tomorrow.
