I was surprised to see three different idle screws when I was bagging up and organizing my TQ stuff
Could be more ??

I don't have to look close to see the differences.

3 is all I have come across on the OEM.

Now that I think about it, I should check the 1,000 cfm race TQ.

Would I be correct in assuming the smaller diameter needle will allow for adjustment on a larger engine that flows more fuel and air that a smaller one ??

It would seem that way.

The larger the diameter of the needle less adjustment parameters, less fuel and air can flow
The smaller the needle more fuel and air can flow, more adjustment parameters

Considering there for idle adjustment/tuning, I wouldn’t have an issue mixing them up and twisting them as needed.

The larger the needles, (steeper angles) the less you’ll turn them.

I believe the bottom screw in post #1 with the shallow taper is from later TQs & is for tighter control [ emissions ] of air/fuel.
Taper doesn't really matter. Much ado about nothing, someone said.....
Bottom line: the tapered end, whatever it is, will form a gap with the exit hole....that is adjustable to provide the correct amount of A/F discharge for idling.
