just a taste from Dad's place

-
That is truly an amazing collection of parts. I beg to differ in regards to some of those parts not becoming part of the earth again if they're not cleaned, oiled, bagged and tagged though regardless of how much rain you get. Condensation and parts on the ground are bad news.

That kind of clutter on my property would irritate me to no end. I trip on one thing on the floor and I stop everything until I can find a place for it. To each their own though and I suppose he knows where everything is. All that being said your Dad has a gold mine there and I wish he lived next door, lol. He'd end up with a steady income from my parts browsing.

Cool looking dog too, is that a Rottie mix? :)

How about making a price list of things that are fore sale. I'm sure that alot of people on here would like to buy.....

Thats good stuff fleet!

On the down side...a lot of us suffer from the 'parts hoarder syndrome'
It works out for us cause we have what we need if we ever need it, but thats 'if' we ever need it.... ha ha.
See most of that stuff will never be used and will make it's way back into minerals , meanwhile others are lookin high and low with no luck.

But thats how it works... I suffer from it too! lol

I counted 7 gas containers in the shot which shows the stool and toolbox in his garage. I guess when he isn't able to find, or dig out a gas container he just buys a new one?

The amazing part of it is, most of the stuff he has has been given to him or traded over the years! those gas cans were given to him full of gas! he will sell most of it, just pm scott (37 fleetwood) with what you want and he will get back to ya with a price. believe me their is a lot more than what you could even imagine!

OK Fleet, Lets give er a go.
I am in need of a 68 150MPH speedo for a 68 GTX, 4 wheel well mouldings, small GTX emblem that goes on the right side of the rear valance, and 4 68 dog dish caps for a set of cop car wheels. Fill this and then we'll try for the really hard stuff. How much? I'm at 65775. Thanks for tryin.

Lots of great treasures there. I love the 60 Dodge with the long ram intakes. That is really cool. I had a Dodge Dart w 318 for my second mopar. I loved that car. Great stuff and I won't give any crap about the storage. Put it where you can find it. Works good until you get alzheimers.

wow that place is amazing lol:) if an a or b body 8 3/4 is not being used or something let me know. i need one o ya and more **** lol.

i see both sides but he is collecting it all and i bet he is a big help to all his buddies(which he probably has many). i know i was that way with bicycle stuff. i just hope nothing really rare goes bye bye. dont think it would you both seem to know what you got lol.

You may not get much rain there in Cali, but pics don't lie...40+ years and rust becomes an issue almost anywhere. Here's to hoping some of that stuff gets circulated so that this great hobby can continue.

It's all pretty much for sale, just make an offer! i am at breakfast every morning with him, so let Scott or me know what you want.

Good for your dad. All the whiners that posted previously seem to have forgotten ONE IMPORTANT THING. 99% of that stuff would probably already be a Chinese made toaster if it wasn't for your dads stockpiling. He saved it...PERIOD. I don't need any of it but it was cool to take a look.
As far as selling it...I won't waste my time here anymore since it is a bigger aggravation than it is worth. I recently pulled a set of '71 Demon 4-speed pedals out of a cabinet in my garage where they were taking up space. They were out of a 340 car so they had bearings, and the heavy brake pedal. I offered them for $150. I was told by some rocket scientist that they were worth 100 bucks. Well they might be, but I had bead blasted them. POR silver base coat. Sprayed steel grey. Masked the pedals off and sprayed 60% black. Then I popped on a NOS clutch pedal pad, and a mint brake pedal pad. They were in great shape...bolt them into a show car actually. So lets see...$100 bucks for the pedals. 3 hours shop time @ $50 an hour. Two nice pads, and a spiff on the rest of the switches ect. I should have offered them at $325, but i figured $150 was a good price. I after the commentary I pulled the ad, and threw them into the loft in the barn with the rest of the parts.
Good luck, and thanks again for the peek.

I know what ya mean! i don't think half of these guys know how much those parts are really worth!

well, I can vouch that this stuff wouldn't be around anymore if not for him picking it up when he did. I was there as a kid when he traded some 2"x4"s he got from ripping down a neighbours house during a remodel for a 1970, 440 Six-Pak 4 speed Challenger. you can complain all you want but the fact remains that he has it and it's his. I have been talking him into letting loose of some of it and will be putting it in the "Parts For Sale" section as it comes along. I tried to sell a few of the engines before with no real success. every time I told him someone wanted something he would go into a long winded explanation on how hard it was going to be finding one that he would let go of, blah blah blah, so now I'm only listing things I have here in my possession.
I just listed a bunch of Valiant fenders and will be listing some fenders from the '70's soon, take care and Merry Christmas!

...I think the best way to approach this is to purge the obvious junk/scrap, and then

Obvious? ;) That word reminds me of the Supreme Court's definition of pornography, "I know it when I see it." One man's trash is another one's treasure.

You need someone to sort it all out and make an inventory. buy a couple of big sheds, stack and store it all nice.

It'll probably going to take you all weekend.

Sure, you could do that... but from what I saw in those few photos, it would take several months. Amazing! Good for him, for collecting when the parts were cheap enough that he could afford it. I collected once, then sold several cars and all the parts when life circumstances changed (and the girl of my dreams didn't include my dreams in hers). Several years later (when I returned to my senses), it was significantly more expensive to get back into the hobby.

Yea, my organizing system is similar to your Dad's. I usually know where everything is, based on location and strata. It drives other people nuts. ;)

37 fleetwood aka scottie lets tell these fine people the truth about some of these great finds, like that 300 conv. i gave him for a set of 906 heads and 383 rods and that 70 318 barracuda shell thats hit in the front and rear for 250 bucks why dont you get a job instead of trying to sell off yours dads life collection let him enjoy it a few years longer,he has worked hard all his life unlike a few of his kids that freeload you guys can fight over his stuff when he dies though at 71 plus years he is still going strong so thats going to be awhile.

If it weren't for my wife, my property would look something like that! I have accumulated two '67 Barracudas, a '70 Mustang Mach 1 and a '70 Mustang convertible. Now whenever I mention something she tells me that one of hte cars has to go. Aww POOP! I want to bring in my other dream project cars ... '36 Ford Coupe, '36 Plymouth Coupe, '50 something Chevy Fleetmaster, '63 Chevy PU, '69 Chevy PU, '50 Dodge PU, '32 Ford Coupe, '69 or '70 Road Runner ... the list grows every time I look at CraigsList!!! :love7: I want to buy now while the economy sucks and people are dumping their toys 'cuz they need the money.
