Just found another car for the school shop. This one is next door to a friends house. I just got the title for it. Its been sitting in the same spot for a long time. 2 owner car (same family). I'm going to do a 318/360-904-8.75" swap, disk brakes and whatever it takes to get it running (and stopping) properly. It will then be offered back to the seller, without cosmetics (interior and paint) finished. More fun for the 2014-2015 school year.

This is the car that will need: Trunk Lid, RR tail light assy (complete) and rear bumper (for now).

Holy crap that thing had to be there a long time to sink like that. Be cool to get it running and drive it looking like that.

All I can say is way to go and you are the man as well as you students! As one who loves his 65 Barracuda Formula S to see another going down the road is making me smile ear to ear!!

65CudaLover!!

65; thanks for the words. I read the PM, I appreciate the thoughts and words and will pass them on to the kids!!!!

What to do with this one? 318 or 360 - no sure yet. later auto trans, 8.75 rear. maybe even a 8.25 ... we'll see.

Let the fun begin!!!!! just getting rubber under it now to move it to school.

I'll be watching this to see the transformation to a running car. I'm sure the kids will love it.

........trade ya even up for that unpatina'ed white one :)
lol This will probably be running before the white one does again. I spun a main a few years ago and life has gotten too busy to fix it. At least when I do fix it I can post pics of my barn find. lol

Why not build the 273? Mine has a 360 with the rest of the drivetrain stock. I wish I had the stock engine for it, you can build a 273 to make decent power.

going to sell off the orig. drivetrain stuff. Just going a little more modern...

starting build thread in members restoration section. resto starting Sept 2014

Progress. The 65 is almost a shell now. We're starting in on removing the "old" stuff we won't be using.

Here is the 273 Autopsy we preformed. Looks like the cause of death was lack of lubrication by a failure of the oil pump and/or drive shaft. Seems the bottm 1" with flats the goes into the ID of the pump sheared off. First time I ever saw that. Looks to me the PO ignored the oil press light and kept driving - - notice the scorching of the 3/4 and 5/6 rod journals!

also shown the underside of the hood and lift springs.

That's a forged crank, turn it and run it! Keep it a 318/273. Neutral balance is always easier to build, more flexible in parts procurment. 4 barrel 318 will be great in that light car. Keep heeds small so you can utilize stock exhaust stage 2 cam or RV grind and rock it. There is a taillight in for sale section, $40.that drive sheared because the oil pump seized

I have the tail light and deck lid. Also all the parts for the 360 swap. Unfortunately, my 273 rad leaked and needs a recore. But I have a 67 B body one, same width, slightly taller that is ready to go. I also have a core 318 that I might build. going with a lockup 904.

Nice project, for you and the class!! Ill be following along, ID love to see the car pull back into that same spot, running this time!! Geof

as it sits. all sub assys being rebuilt or replaced as needed. Goal is to look brand new inside, underneath and in the engine bay. Leaving the outside to fester......

underside of the hood done along with the torsion rods. Just painted rust stop then engine paint. real close to the OEM color. Engine bay will be the same color...

rear glass out today. all old caulk out from the window gutters, wire wheeled the gutters and the front windshield channel. Treated then POR'ed the gutters, channels and under the qtr. trim. Quick primed the engine bay and POR'ed the front frame rails.

The goal is to have every inside, nook and cranny sealed up and rust proofed. exterior? the PLAN...is under study! :)
