Ive never favored a specific car manufacturer. I can say that there never was a ford made after around 1940 that I would ever would have wanted to "build", but besides that I have liked, and had, a lot of cars without ever being "branded". Well, seeing as it was nice this past weekend I hopped on my springer softail and headed to Quaker Steak and Lube because theres always a nice collection of cars there. While talking with some people about restorations and builds I mentioned how much more I appreciate the hobby since I bought my 66 Barracuda. That went over really well :-D We have 2 ford plants and a very large chevy plant here (the street I live off of is Chevrolet Blvd) So i started to explain to my new "friends" whats been involved with doing my Cuda ; finding parts, prices, and how a lot of what may be needed cant just be found of 1 of a hundred other models or different years of the same vehicle. Especially seeing as Im doing an early A and putting in a 440. I told them I can honestly say that I feel a greater sense of accomplishment working on my Mopar than when I did my 69 chevelle or 70 grand prix years ago. Thats about the point that the conversation turned to mostly insults and all I could say was that when they want to be real men buy a Mopar and then come talk to me. So, like I said, I didnt buy my Barracuda to become a Mopar Guy, but thats what has happened and now I wouldnt want to own anything else:thumblef:

Typical. But that's just another reason why I'm a Mopar guy - to stand apart from the lemmings in the Furd/Chebby crowd. I belong to a local cruise club that is heavy on other makes. I'm in the minority and that's fine by me.

My Chevy and Ford friends kinda look down on Mopar.Sayin it,s made of different parts(Ford,Gm)I just say,Mine didn,t come with that bondo like yours. That usually shuts them up real quick!

I got your back. any pussy can build a Chevy. We have more class as we can look at theirs objectively and compliment nice work but the little bow tie boys are not as couth as us. maybe we intimidate them. and with a 440 in your cuda i can see why lol

I know a guy who likes to help work on cars. He has a pretty nice shop with a lift and lots of tools that I don't have at home. Anytime we are doing a project and need parts or something needs to be fabbed, he says "This would have been so much easier if you'd have bought a Chevy". I have tried several times to explain to him that anyone could through together a Chevy with readily available parts at cheap prices.

Some people just don't get it.

Well what I have noticed is that you can drive a "Cool Cheby or Ford " and people look. But If you drive a "Cool Mopar" people stare.I think it says you have the balls to be different!

Sorry to hear about your tough time. My best friend is a dyed in the wool Chevy guy guy and I can respect that (especially his 8.9 sec 55 Chevy). He has a pretty good grip on Fords (as in he respects them)........but I have to say his knowledge of Mopar products is quite astounding. He's just one of those car guys that "gets it"....... if you know what I mean. I've noticed that most of the guys I know are "would like to be" (as in owning a Mopar) or actually have in the past. I very rarely have the misfortune to run into a doofus who will proclaim that their's is better than Mopar. But, I gotta say all the Mopar guys (and a coupla girls:-D ) that I know are hardcore Mopar. Just like me.

Yeah. Last week when I was driving the Duster home from the tire shop, I kept getting people pulling along side and giving head bobs, thumbs up, etc, and that was with mismatched wheels on it.

Haven't felt that in a while

My younger son races modified class on the dirt and said someone showed up from Tennessee last week end and took the money and he talked to him and said thanks for showing up and got his phone number.
The track officials checked vacuum and weight and length and creed said there was some mad chebby guys there protesting him.
Creed said "my youngest son'' That his sheet metal was all white like I have allways liked a white race car.

I wish I would have been there and got some pictures but creed said he will see if anyone got any shots of him running #14 and pulling his trailor with a dark green dully ram diesel.
I bet they will be watching the gates next weekend for that monster Dodge
and hope he stays in Tennessee.:toothy10::toothy10:
