La360 with np435

Well ****. Here is the deal. I bought a running/driving truck today for cheap thinking since it was a 4 speed it would have the a833 until I got home and did a search and realized it has an np435. Is it worth it to try and run the np435 or should I just use the la360 that came in the truck and find an a833?

The good news is, the NP435 is a great and sought-after trans for the 4WD crowd. There's a multitude of adapters from places like Novak or Advance Adapters for various transfer cases. So if I were you, I'd package up the flywheel, clutch, PP and bellhousing w the trans and sell it.

What year truck? I need a 76-77 Adventurer volt/vacuum gauge with the early woodgrain bezel.

Got ya, yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do, try and get some money out of it for other parts I need.

Cores are about 5-600 then rebuild cost. There is a retired guy I know that’s in your area that rebuilds them for a fair price so you’d be about a grand. Brewers might have one on the shelf and they are about 1500. There might be some on CL in PDX or FakeBook.

Got ya, that's awesome. Do you have any contact info for the gentleman that rebuild them? I found a couple on market place for sale. Just need to sell some other parts firt. Trying to get this car on the road on a budget lol

I’ll reach out to him and ask if he’s still doing them and if it ok to share contact. Also had a good experience with PDX transmission exchange on MLk and Hancock a few blocks up from broadway.

Why do you want a hydraulic throw-out system?
When for a Scamp, the factory mechanical works just fine.
mainly because the clutch linkage is different as to how and where it goes through the floor. I'm sure I could probably fab up my own but
 
You are gonna need a different bell and flywheel as well. The truck bell is larger and uses a larger flywheel. I do not think it will fit into an A body Some of those light truck bells were drilled both for the 435 and for the 833, as some 1/2 tons came with an 833 overdrive box. One way to "do" hydraulic is to acquire a hydraulic setup off a 90's Dakota/ Dodge RAM. These have a clutch master with a remote master, AKA the master connects to the reservoir with a hose. Then you fab a bracket that will mount in the A body pusrod hole at the same angle that the pushrod lies, after reinforcing the firewall. Then you use a fairly stock Mopar clutch pedal and fab a pushrod in the pass. side of the firewall. Now the hose from the master will lead down to the slave, and which you must fab a bracket at the bell area with a pushrod made to fit the mechanical release fork.

Someone on here made a few custom brackets for this, and AI had one---before the house fire. I don't even know if it exists, now.

Somewhere on this site is/ was a thread or two of others using this general setup.

Then get the correct manual transmission bell housing and clutch linkage for it. Why are you trying to make things more difficult on yourself? Don't reinvent the wheel here. Chrysler made everything to do this and there's still plenty of it around.

the voodoo science juice box to elbow wear-er out-er cog box swap is tricky enough as it is, why complicate matters further for no gains what so ever and a whole *** boat load of frustration.
