I have one of those predators
I have one of those predators
Those suckers flow 930cfm through single venturi
Those suckers flow 930cfm through single venturi
And to show the versatility.. my friend ran one on his summit cam'd 318 w/hedmans and saturday night special converter back in the 90's . Lol
Now im gonna dig it up. I know there's a kit for them.
my 340 had peak hp at 6200 withthe air gap the dyno shows the air gap peaking in the 5500-5600 range with the 426.I can spin the 426 to 7000 but it ain't making any more power . everone thinks it's the intake holding it back guess i'll find out when i get the victor or super victor . I will report back when the intake is changed and tested .if your air gap runs out of steam at 5500 rpm, you have other problems to worry about.
i had a air gap on a 410'' years ago. 6700 rpm all day long. a friend has a air gap on his 340'' and he is at 6800 rpm.
a little drag racing and running road courses , think I'll be running an 780 or 850 holley , trying to keep it simple , upper limits for me 6500 rpm trying to keep it simple .Intended use, drag race only? Or prostreet? If you are using a Dominator carb, I would try the square bore M-1 or Victor and use the carb adapter to get up to the Dominator. Signal will be better and should have no issue screaming into the upper limits.
I'd really like that just for the wow factor , but the price is way out of my budgetBack in the 80's you couldn't give one of those away. I should have bought every single one I found.
the shop that builtthe engine had to grind the block a bit for the offset rocker arms /pushrods , everything lines up well . Took quite some time to get it right .Mike at B3 is super knowledgeable, and his spacers did a great job of correcting my w2 valve train geometry.
I went with a Trend .105 wall pushrod in 5/16

Thanks all for the suggestions
That soundsI would be looking at a 930 cfm double pumper.
I just bought thecar last year i'll have to ask about the cam , compression is 11.4 . when I find out about the cam i'll post the pecsWhat cam and compression are you running in the 426?
took a few hours and emails , but here are the cam specs , not crazy about them might be changing it
lobe lift intake 0.377
exhaust 0.377
valve lift 1.6 rocker
intake 0.603 exhaust 0.603
duration @050 242.6
246.6

I planned on running oil thru pushrods but the tech at Smith Bros talked me out of it . He said they have had issues with the oil being pushed back down the pushrod and starving the adjuster/cup of oil. Maybe he thought I was running Pro Stock !You guy running roller rockers really need to budget b3's kit and get your geometry righwen you want to push thta many revs- 3/8 pushrods and some block grinding next time you have it apart
I go cup adjusters and hollow pushrods to ensure they get lubed
ask b3

I havent run my engine much yet and am having angst thinking about burned cups & balls . I am going to order another set of oil thru rods .
I've never heard that push down comment before
done oil through the pushaods and the shafts lots of times
most rockers just squirt oil at the adjuster (if you're lucky and the stream misses cuz the adjuster is too far in or out...)
wheras the pushrod is delivering pressurized oil dirctly to the cup
I wonder if the pushrod tip type makes a difference.
when we were doing road racing we used ford sized adjusters and 3/8 pushrods and offset rockers
and , that is exactly where I want my 426 to have max hp , don't want to rev the piss out of my engine 6500-6700 would be perfectI agree with the super victor.
416, bigmouth heads, 268/274 SR made power at 6700rpm
called the shop that built the 46 and they say geometry on the valve train looks good , they said they spent a shiyload of time setting it up , i'll look at the b3 kit though see if it is needed . I don't plan on more than 6500 rpm , have the revlimiter set at 6400 just to be safe . where do i find this B-3 kit I'm new to thisrun what you brung
don't make a change without going through the advance cam/ retard cam drill
with compression checks straight up, advanced, retarded
also have you looked into the b3 kit?
I'd do that before spending money on a new cam without running the one you have
cheers
