My search for a shorty D100 is over

Tonight I built one good factory electronic distributor out of two, some parts from my original and some parts from the distributor I got from @junkyardhero. I also yanked the driver side header off (again) and doubled up the gaskets because I despise exhaust leaks worse than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. That made it better but it’s still leaking. I need to build some weld up on the flange and surface it. Shouldn’t have to do that with brand new headmans but whatever. When my remflex gaskets get here I’ll pull it, weld it, and surface it. Here’s a quick start up video from tonight for ya’ll.

Makes me want a cruiser hot rod

It sounds more rowdy than it is because of the exhaust. I scrambled to piece it together just to get to @Turbo440Dart wedding and haven’t replaced it yet. It’s only about 4 feet of 2-1/2” tubing and some Pypes Violators mufflers dumped out the sides under the frame.

over the axle?

overrated!!

bring the noise!

I think we put something like 300 miles on this thing today. Absolutely wonderful at 80 down the freeway. Mike may have me sold on over drive stuff now.

It was “probably” like 300 miles. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Very refreshing to drive it and not bring it home on a trailer with a blown up trans. Thanks for cruising with.

This reminds me of the Craigslist ad but too far away, you guys have fun !

Care to share? Craigslist ads?
Seeing people going on cruises and they're in a different state.
Like seeing a good deal on something but it's too far away.
Probably a stupid analogy but that's what made sense (too me) lol

Makes perfect sense now. I just didn’t get it.

man, california will allow work release for anybody these days!

[ps seat look bitchin'!]
I’m very happy with the interior. Chris thinks it’s too nice to get dirty but that’s what it’s for. It was hot today, lower 90s and we had the nut coolers open. ALL of the leaves and dirt that were in the cowl are now on the floor.

So, how does the transmission "feel" now? Did it feel the same right up to the point it lost engagement before, or does it even feel more crisp this time?

Great to hear it worked on a long drive.

It feels like a completely stock 46re transmission to me. With a little bit of converter. The controller I am using has 3 modes of operation; normal, sport, tow/haul. I have only been using (and have tuned) the normal mode so far. The first time I put the trans in, it felt similar but it’s hard to correlate because the controller wasn’t tuned at all.
Moving forward, I’d like it to shift a little more firm and I’d like to extend the 2-3 shift a few hundred rpm under cruising. I think both of those are possible in the settings. I’ve done no WOT runs yet.
