The fake motor sounds are definitely fodder for abuse by just about everyone. I think folks may have taken the car more seriously without it. I have laughingly also suggested that the driver should be able to customize the exhaust soundtrack. Could probably have a lot of fun with that….
I definitely agree there is nothing like the rumble of a V8, but that is my generation. Sooner or later (hopefully later) we will all be gone and the youngsters will look at pictures of us and our cars like Fred Flintstone.
I don’t think electric cars will take over anytime soon if ever, but they are definitely not going away. I am not an electric car fan, but I love the idea of being able to smoke about anything on the street for a couple hundred dollars a month.
Folks still ride horses and Amish still ride in buggy’s. I have friends who drive model A’s &T’s & love them. I think there is room for everyone in polite society.

Any update, how are you liking the car ?
I love it! Nicest car I have ever had. It is a little quirky, probably more so than other electric cars. It is so complicated, I doubt that I will ever learn a fraction of it. But as I get older, I appreciate the “nanny” cars more. The lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot alert are pretty nice, particularly at night.
It is a hoot to drive. Instant throttle response. Kind of spoils you for driving other cars. I have a 392 stick challenger and it is way faster than that.
Everyone wants to hear the fake exhaust sounds.
For driving around the city where you can charge at home, it is great. If you want to travel in rural areas, that might not go well.
I am not really an electric car fan, but it is a fun experience.

There are a few 2025s around here (non scat pack) selling for 36k new.
The throttle response is definitely different than a gas engine. It doesn’t have to wind up to generate power. It will actually make me a little dizzy to tromp on it at low speed. Linear is a good description.
However, as I understand, it is speed limited to 130 mph or something like that. That may be because there is no conventional transmission and it is 1:1 all the time. Electric cars would really be killers if they had different gears like a gas car. I have been too chicken to drive over 100 mph, so no first hand data.
There are a lot of horror stories out there about issues with the car. I guess I have been pretty lucky so far with minimal issues.

I'm surprised by the tone of this thread. Five years ago this would have been filled with red x's and government conspiracy theories then moved to N&P by the moderators by now. Congrats to everyone for keeping it civil.

The electric Charger seems to have been designed around the idea "We think the government will mandate electric cars soon, and our customers hate electric cars, so how do we design an electric car for people who hate electric cars?" Starting with a pretty much impossible premise means they're setting themselves up for a marketing disaster... But that also means there are likely to be some bargains to be found.
I saw one on the road this weekend and it looked nice! I like the idea of EVs having sounds when driving around at slow speeds. I almost got ran over by an early Prius that I did see was pulling out of a drive through ATM.
Are the external exhaust sounds on all the time? Are there any internal sounds playing? A few newer ICE cars are doing it.
Does the car have the "creeping" feature? Some EVs didn't creep forward when you let off the brakes at a stop.
Have you smoked any cars at a stop?

Fake "vroom vroom" sounds doesn't get much gayer then that 
The fake sound speakers are in the back. You can turn it off. The sound gets louder in other driving modes like track or drag. 11.5 second car, so it will likely smoke most cars on the street, although I am not a street racer. Mostly just run it hard on entrance ramps.
Creep mode can be turned on or off. I leave it on so it drives like an automatic transmission.

I like the hatch back feature. Ads a lot of utility to the vehicle. Electric cars not for me but they work well for some use cases.
I have a childhood friend who lives in the Atlanta area. He and his wife have a Tesla and they love it. He says it's perfect for all the urban errands they run.
There is this dude locally that has an electric Charger. He takes it to the cars and coffee events as if it is something to brag about. Most people walk right past it and don't care about it at all. One YouTuber guy posts videos and recorded a short segment of the guy standing by the car, looking all stupid by himself, waiting for people to ask him about the car. The YouTuber guy walked by, accidently made eye contact and felt committed, so we went up and was polite to the guy. The owner was all giddy like a car salesman seeing a customer on the lot after 3 weeks of nothing.
How pathetic.
