patch work update. panel in..old one cut out. Patch job.....with the shop kids.
cut and trim...cut and trim. Its close enough. Going to use a backer strip to make it easier for the kids to weld. Hopefully, will have it welded up before winter break.
We're just going to weld it, grind it, glassfill the weld...then prime and call it done. Just one more body scar for this 65 to be proud of! lol
Nicely done! I give you alot of credit for doing a ground up resto on a early A since unfortunately they don't bring the big $$$. I know I'm a few g's over in mine...lol. Oh well, not in it as an investment, just a MOPAR guy enjoying his ride!
I spent an hour today trying to show them how to sneak up on the cuts. It takes more time, but you get closer seams.
We will be putting in a backer strip behind the welds. Yes...I know, butt welds are best, but our prep isn't...so a backer it is! Plus, it will be MUCH easier for the kids to MIG it. Remember, this is the first time MIG welding for these guys. Gas on? .023 wire? settings?........bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt.
