Just picked up this 318 roller long block, and have never seen this I cast into anything before. Has 714 heads. Supposedly out of a ram truck, but unsure. I’ve heard of the international harvester castings but those look different. Also personally never seen a -23 before or a number that high. Is this just an international casting?

It's possible that International Harvester cast that, but according to the internet it was in the late seventies that they supplied blocks.

It is a - Police “I"nterceptor block/motor with factory high compression forged pistons, steel crank, and H-beam rods, up top should be 2.02 1.65 valved high flow heads, and factory modified oiling system.

714 heads are the same castings as the 302s.

Flat top pistons, 9.2:1 cr.

Roller Cam engine for '90.

IH did castings for Mopar

Industrial casting block. I’ve also seen 360s with the same I industrial casting, and of all the weirdness, I have just been given a low mileage ‘88 3.9 industrial engine. If you were to remove the core plugs, you’ll see these blocks have enough cylinder wall to accept a 4 inch bore pretty handily. The tops of the cylinder walls are pretty heavy. If I can find some stock bore TRW 360 domes, I’ve got an MP 3.58 4340 318 main journal crank I’d like to put in this one.
Be Careful of What You Let Get Away
It’s knife edged, polished, and got a ton of Mallory welded into it but may have to come out of it for some lighter rods and pistons.

Yeah get you some of them early 318/273 rods. The light ones.

Yeah, but does it have a 3/4 race cam?

Already have a set from the RRR collection… Thanks, lol! Offset grinding and long SBC Honda journal rods would open up some interesting possibilities for shelf piston selection without having to take too much out of the cylinder walls of one of these blocks.
