Another one added to the stable , This time not a A-Body .

Before leaving to the New England Nationals Tuesday Night I was browsing Craigslist and I came upon this car about a hour from the track. Great opportunity. we were only bringing the S/G car and left the stocker home. We took a break Wednesday Night when we got there and ended up buying it for a very very great! deal. I had it shipped Friday morning to the track and loaded it up.

This is The written story we got with the car

Edith Anderson of Kennebunk Me. worked as a office manager/secretary at Snowden Motors In Kennebunk. She ordered the Coronet from the dealership with only Hubcaps, power steering and a Day/night mirror. She was very frugal and probably considered a radio as a extravagance as The car is a factory Radio Delete.. Edith ordered a new coronet in 1970 and sold the 1965 to her sister Alice Mclnnes. Alice drove the coronet until she stopped driving, and the car sat behind her sons house where she was living. In where they did some shade tree repairs and had it painted at the high school auto shop. Kylie (girl we bought it from) drove the car through high school and part of college until the motor got locked up. The car has been sitting in and out of the garage ever since.

The car has 42,000 orig. Miles. The doors open and shut amazing. The car has the orig radio delete plate in the glove box and all the service records from when it was new and owners manual, even the orig. dealer window sticker and fender and vin tag.

The owners I bought it from took the engine apart and it is now in boxes in the car. They repaired the rear floors with some sheet metal. the trunk floor is solid same as the floors. the quarters are rotted above and in front of the wheel and might have some bondo behind the wheels. The doors and rockers are very solid. the fenders are solid other than the dog leg on both sides. the inner fenders are also very solid. The int. is all orig. and smells like the famous "old car smell" , I have no set plans for the car at this moment. I got a smoking deal on it , I just couldn't pass it up., :D

That should make one sweet ride. Heck I would probably put a driveline in it and cruise it.

ya, I thought about that. The car needs a full resto though, everything is just so moldy and everything has surface rust, I really put a thought in to that but its really not the right way to go, haha

that is the identical twin to my "lil blue" that I had for my first car in 1984. she had a 318 and I think I tore up 3 trannys downshifting to beat my cousins firebird. oh what memories of that old car. when I went in the navy in 86 my uncle "borrowed" it for a while and got tore up from the floor up and wrapped it around a tree somewhere he couldn't remember where (so he says). searched and searched for about 18 yrs and finally located where she was and (no joke here) 3 days before I went to get her, the city hauled her to the scrapper.

well, set plan for car :

strip engine bay wiring

new battery tray

wire wheel and thoroughly clean engine compartment

clean interior , new rug and headliner , paint dash

clean trunk and repair trunk,

remove all trim , buff and polish , dent repair grill

finish stripping last layer of paint and give car to body shop to fix both quarters and fenders and paint car, engine bay and cop car rims

buy new tires

remove front and rear suspension and rebuild

clean underside and undercoat with raptor liner bed liner

caltracs, reinstall suspension

install 360 and rebuilt 727

spackle paint trunk

new rubbers

sorry for the long list , I know Im forgetting stuff, I have been stripping the outside layer of blue paint to the primer with a razor blade!! I know sounds weird but I got the idea from over at cuda challenger and surprisingly it works very well, I have a 360 that I cleaned up and painted that Ill install in the car and I have a 727 core I will rebuild. I will either find a replacement hood or buy a fiberglass one,

IRON MAIDEN?

...excellent!!

cool car. This was mine back in 1989. Have not seen it since.

when I first bought this car I kind of felt bad that I was buying it because my uncle owns a 1965 4 door and has owned it forever and he was looking for a 2 door post for 3 years to make a parts car out of and convert his 4 door into a two door, well, it just so happened that he had a few things that I wanted ........

I ended up trading the 2 door post for a .30 340 short block stock stroke, scat crank, rods and 10.1 comp. KB pistons , a ran once on dyno 950 holley carb, like new! and a V8 K frame for my dart!! one of my dads customers had them build the engine for his duster but it never left the shop and he bought the 340 and duster from the customer , it says on the invoice the short block in just parts without labor was $4,500! and then the carb and k- frame, overall I got a great deal and my uncle got the car he's always wanted, he is ending up cutting his 4 door up to build the 2 door,

oh I I gotta add, I only paid $1,300 for the car,

$1300, I sold a pair of doors for that car 5 years ago, and got $1000.
