Remembering Old Gas Stations

-
What a great photo of that old store and kids! Several years ago I stopped at one very similar to it on a back road in Louisiana. It too was covered with ancient tobacco signs, but was a bit more modern with a full size cutout of Rusty Wallace in a Miller fire suit inside the front door.

It's located right on Route 66 (Foothill Blvd.) in Rancho Cucamonga (SoCal), not too far from where our Inland Mopars Car Club holds our monthly business meetings.
There are still a couple of old gas station buildings here in Orange County. I'll try to get out and get some pics of them.

Outstanding thread!

great memory's... we were budding motorheads ..I worked at a station that was built of stone when I was a teen it was a Kendall station.. Kendall Kar Kastle $1 an hour off the books ..30.9 a gallon ....I guess it was our McDonald's of the day as far as a teenagers job ..great thread thanks

thanks for reminding me how old i am. lol. i really enjoyed seeing the pics. i still think about the old standard oil station 2 blocks from our house. went there every day as a kid. the guy who owned it would always give us kids chips, sodas and candy bars for taking out the trash from inside the store and for sweeping the floor. we had a blast just hanging out. not to mention his son was the president of the local car club in town, The Villege Idiots, lol
