Sandin A/C and compact P/S pump brackets

Anybody done these yet? Thinking the Sandin compact A/C compressor low on the drivers side with a compact P/S pump above it. I done several B/RB and Hemi component assemblies like this but not any small blocks.

Before the cocktail napkins come out, I thought i would see what is out there. Not wanting to do a one-off if someone is already producing them.

Bouchillon. brackets worked great on my 74'

but now that i re-read this i see how you were thinking low drivers side. when i was looking a couple years ago i didn't see anyone doing that for small block

It’s probably the same kit. I’m running p/s but you can’t see it in those pictures and the water pump outlet is on the other side for 69 and earlier. I need something that would work one the six pack intake. But it all fits. Now We are going to try to but it on a Str-12 intake with fuel injection on a 426 small block

I've heard the reference to a "peanut" compressor as well and came to the conclusion it applies to the Sanden SD-7B10. It's the shortest compressor I could find. I purchased one sold by Vintage Air. It's in their catalog (near the end) and shows dimensions.

I was also interested in the lower driver side mount position. I didn't find anyone that sells a kit or brackets for this. I'm putting mine on a 340 in a '67 Dart. I ended up modifying a smog pump bracket that I found on a '78 Aspen in the wrecking yard. The smog pump was on the lower driver side underneath the PS pump. The car is not together yet, so I still need to do the plumbing.
 
I got this with leftover brackets from the similar configuration of the B/ RB / Hemi set up......I'll do the proto-types next week see what you guys think.
 
:thumbsup: If you can get it to work, you'll be curing a lot of ills surrounding SBM AC brackets. I used Classic Air brackets on a 360 in a Challenger several years ago. They were ok, but required an idler pulley.....which sucked. Mounting a Sanden pump up top gets in the way of hose routing more times than not. Bouchillon brackets are functional, but :eek: ! Thanks for doing this.....I know they will turn out great!
 
I know modern vehicles have the a/c compressor mounted very low but... they have a lot of shrouding too. I worry that this configuration in our classics would subject the a/c clutch to too much water, sand, etc...
I would prefer the compressor where the alternator is (refrigerant hoses on that side after all) but the battery tray is in the way of moving the alternator over there.

this was classic or vintage i've forgotten . it came as a kit . just bolted up although the lines n fittings were old tech for r12 , no good for 134 . so i used a12 duracool . works great , blows 55 temp at idle . no ps here .

Just not a fan of the compressor in the factory location. Might be a good place for it, but I want it incognito, My hot rods are more like coffee getters anyways, not your daily driver, go to work car. With the battery almost always mounted in the trunk, low drivers side location works for me. The elements are not a factor to me either, I get caught in the rain every now and then, a ****-storm when my wife gets her nose open.....but never a sand storm.
 
that duster build was a stockish driver . and thats what he delivered to me to install . now he wants me to build him a model a or duce coupe with ac ps pb pw cruz with mopar running gear . trying to talk him into a late hemi package , so that should be fun to build , i've done other pre war cars and he liked what i had done on them . i'm a hotrodder at heart . and a big mopar fan , so it will be a mopar or no car builds for me at this point in my life . for a cleaner look the alt and ps , air cond could all be tucked away from view , and for a non driver it works for most . i've never been a showy guy , built showy stuff for others . just like jewelry you take it out polish it up , go show it off and then back in the box . i guess its fine , just not my idea of a great time . i've done my shear of polish'n n wax'n . here is a couple pitt racers we built . candy apple red one is a buddy's and that candy orangy one is mine . we drag them out with my 63 sfgc mw car .

here is what I have in mind.....used the HDK B/RB/Hemi brackets and need to re-map the block mounting hole before cutting new brackets.

i always like to have at least one belt pulling straight down to the crank from the water pump , for a positive pull and very little slippage . that said looks cool there . if you dumped the mech fuel pump it could be on the passenger side low mount . isn't this ride going efi carb style ? with the pump in the tank ?
 
Last year at Carlisle there was a Duster with a Hemi in it that had the compressor and the ps pump in just that general location. It was neat and pretty and didn't dominate the engine compartment. Call the tech line at Classic Air and ask them for pictures - they made custom hoses for the owner and are really proud of the results. They might even be able to put you in touch with the owner.

no on the efi, I dropped the entire package out as you see it and it is going back in that way. no pump in the tank. There are pluses....and minus's of the pump in the tank, not even taking into the consideration of unnecessary and additional $$$$ for this build.

Another PIA of the low passenger side is routing the hoses. Remember, the evaporator hose connection from the compressor is on the drivers side.....IMO, it makes sense and is much cleaner to have the compressor not too far away or on the other side of the engine.

Since I have already done several Hemi versions with this location, I already have a good handle on the hoses.

could have been either Big Jims butterscotch HemiDemon, ....or HemiMarks black HemiDemon. I did both and they were designed / installed using the same version of brackets used for the small block mock-up pictured above.
