A local pastor who is a family friend phoned me up saying he needs some money quick and asks if I want to buy his spotting scope for $300. At first I said no and hung up. I was asleep when he called and didn't even think to ask the brand or model. Go have a shower and call him back to ask the brand and model.

It's a Bushnell LMSS or Elite Tactical. These things normally have a price tag of $1699! I told him yes and would see him at noon today! I think I just got a good deal!

So you think it's morally correct to take advantage of a pastor who may not know the value of the scope he is trying to sell? Did you mention to him what they retail for? Seems like he's asking way to little for it don't you think? I looked one up and it was over $2000.00!

IMO this is the kind of act that you will be questioned about on reckoning day.

Good luck with that.

Im not taking advantage by of anyone. Im pretty sure he knows what it was worth since I was there the day he bought the scope new for $1699 plus taxes.

I even offered to loan him the money instead but he refused.

But thanks for judging my character without knowing the full story....

"didn't even think to ask the brand or model"
"Im pretty sure he knows what it was worth"

So you were there but you didn't know what brand or model he bought? You think he knows what it's worth but your not sure?

I'm not judging anyone...that will be left to the big man....you started the post bragging about a great steal of a deal and I made a comment based what I read. Now your back pedaling with a cover up story and that's fine.

I guess if he's so wealthy he can afford to lose $1,400.00 then let him right? He probably has plenty of cash since he gets plates full every Sunday.

Don't worry about what I think....I have no control over judgement day and I have my own sins to attest to.

There should is no cover up story. Yes I was there when he bought it. The reason I didnt ask at first when brand or model is because he owned three different spotting scopes. I own two myself. I figured he was selling one of his others (which he sold for extremely cheap to his neighbor). As for my comment about "pretty sure he knows what its worth" was a sarcastic comment.

And FYI im not religious so im pretty sure if there is a god I'd be judged for that anyways :p

Sounds like a pretty good deal!!!
I buy stuff for pennies on the dollar all the time.

I'm sure the boogerman in the sky couldn't
give a **** about money or scopes.
He's too busy planning how to torture bizzilions
of dead people for eternity, I'm sure he has
his hands full already.

That's a sweet deal! If the preacher had a scope that nice he knew damn well how much it was worth. I'm wondering what he needed cash for that bad? Hope it works out.
