Been driving the wheels off it!
Dropping off in the AM for idler arm install.

Hey Rog, When I was trying to get an idler arm for Lump it was really strange. When I would order the part (3 other times) it would have a notation "NOT for police or Taxi service vehicle" and I would get the one like in pics #3 & 4 with the extra bend in it. It also had an end that was sealed and could not press in proper seal for my front rack.

I finally ordered one without the police/Taxi notation meaning OK for use in cop/Taxi service. It is straight on the one angle (NO extra bend) and it has huge bushing at the one end that can be pressed out and replaced if needed. The end with the bushing is taller too. Compairs to the sealed end in other pics.

Weird Huh?

Sorry haven't been working Lump lately I've been trying to finish 340dart.812's pick up truck. White primed it today. Painting red soon!!

See Ya!! Rog!!
John.:burnout:

Well, it's been a while. I had to do a paint job on another FABO members dodge pick up. As I finished it, I had to start on FOTO's roof. It had a small crack in the bodywork and was leaking. I found a hole from a light bar about 1" in diameter and the bondo plug had given way. I welded a patch and had to redo bodywork and repaint. While that was happening Lump sprung a leak. Better now than in Jan on the side of the road!
So now as I wet sand and buff the red pick up (now known as "Buck Cherry") I'll be reinstalling roof lights on FOTO all while gutting the Lumpster!
When it rains it pours!! Now I got 3 projects at the same time, King midget sold yesterday to a guy from Orlando, and I got a job interview to detail tour buses and do bodywork on them too, just part time about 25 stress free hours a week, in the AM, 5 miles from home working with a friend. Boss?, 2 hours away!!

So with the old rad out, I guess it will be time to replace waterpump, all hoses, belt, fuel pump, you know all the stuff that will usually go bad in the dead of winter out in the middle of nowhere. While we are doing all that, we will go ahead and paint the engine and possibly the engine compartment too.
Looks like the rad had been leaking for a while. It would be about $250 for recore/repair. Sense Lump is a daily driver, it's just cheaper and faster to just get an after market rad. Advance Auto, $167.00. Also picked up all the other parts. Will be picking up engine paint, oil change stuff, new rad and fitted curved top hose today.
Degreased the engine again last night. Also we will be pulling the valve covers to check for valve train lubrication etc. I have been haveing random tappet noise from drivers side. Just want to be sure the rocker tube isn't clogged.
I opted for cork gasket due to being able to install remove later and reinstall if needed. The cork gaskets you can get away with that for a couple of times before needing new again. They remove clean too if you only put the gasket sealer on the side towards the covers.
Got a somwhat good pic of Lumps, trunk deck. It shows the sparkels pretty good.
A couple of pics showing us getting started.

No wise cracks about the bungie cord batt hold down, it's custom!:D
Besides the gnats in the paint, that is the only Hoosier touch! LOL.....

See yall next time!

How about Lump the Gold Dust Woman?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygj7tawGiug"]Fleetwood Mac ~ Gold Dust Woman - YouTube[/ame]

Very cool thread! John, I just spent a couple hours reading through all the posts start to finish. You are doing a GREAT job on that car - and giving her the love she deserves.... From when I first read the post I was thinking "no way should he part-out or junk that car!" I look forward to future installments!

Also, sorry about your poochie! I am a dog lover - two Labs taking up residence at my (their) home. Back in '04 I had to put down my 13 year old Yellow Lab, Tylor. I had him since he was a small pup.

Hey podart!

Here are some pics of your spare well.
Look them over close. There is a dent on back. Mine on my 67 was dented like this, it was from a trailer hitch, or maybe someone backed into something, I don't know. Anyway, I think you can pound out, you be the judge. It's the only one we have that was not rusted through.
Look it over and PM me if you want me to ship it to you or not. If condition is not good enough, it's cool, no hard feelings, I'll buy it and store it in my barn. It's always a good thing to have laying around due to so many Darts needing.
Also pics of spare board size for 74's. The corners are cut to fit right at the wheel lip.
Yard Dawg cut it where it was easiest for him. So he started at the filler tube and went around. If your running a mat you could always just cut yours off and drop this on top of hole welding the edges. However you want is best but he gave plenty of extra. I'll ship as is.
Anyway PM me if you want it shipped to you or not, It's all good!!

FABO, sorry, I didn't know where else to post his pics.

Thanks, John.:D:coffee2:

Lump actually looks really good that color.

Sunlight yes, she looks like a neon glowing gold brick with sparkels.
Lately has been referred to by friends and I as "The Gold Brick"
Dusk, Dawn, cloudy, looks like butterscotch or carmel. At night almost looks dark brown with gold sparkels.:thumrigh:

Thanks Harry.

I'm sorry to hear of your labby Taylor though. I'm sure it was a hard time for you. I still have happy memories of him but if I remember too long at a time, I still get sad.

Find any front fenders yet? just wondering

He's still looking. I though he told me he only had some off a 65.
I've been real busy trying to get $'s for bills so I haven't left my driveway for anythink except parts from town. I'll be asking him again this morning for you. Let me give him a call, it's almost 9am. It's time to get him moving anyway. It's taken me about 4-5 weeks to get popdarts well for him from YD. When the weather changes, he don't move as fast as before his accident.

I'll PM ya.

I've thrown out a bunch of PM's I probibly shouldn't have. Ever sence I lost my gold membership, I have to clean out PM's alot and never have time to sort them.
Late model, 67-76 Dart correct?

Lump turned out gorgeous!!!

Thanks!
I consider it to be a sealer coat for winter.
Will be redoing in the spring. Will be getting a Burnt Sienna, surf theam mod top. Palm leaves, Fern leaves, flowers, with the sparkels too!

Well I tried to go ahead and replace the water pump, fuel pump, belts all hoses while recoring radiator.
Power steering pump bolt would not crack loose so I said F it untill the water pump goes out. I didn't want to break the bolt off sense it's the long one going through steering pump adjust bracket, water pump, timing chain housing into block. I would have to cut head off, remove water pump and pray I could get the stud out of the block. Too much BS, so I'm going to wait. All parts returned except new radiator cap.
I got the radiator back from the shop on Fri. When I got back I got started on heater core first. Didn't take long, I've done so many but cut my finger on a spring clip and found a Holloween Horror, So there was blood and horror, see pics!
Heater core, radiator, hoses all went in well with no leaks showing yet.
Weather getting warmer here for a couple of days so we will paint interior door uppers in the next day or 2.
I have to get popdarts spare well done first and shipped though!! LOL!
See y'all soon!
