Stop in for a cup of coffee

Trophies are just what is printed on them to state how you did. Dash plaques and participation trophies just show you were there.

I honestly don’t see how a trophy that states “participant” diminishes one that states “First Place”.

It all just an artificial reality anyway. Physical reminders of a good time and the fun you had that day are all car show trophies will ever be.
That’s a good way to look at it.

While they are that, I think they can be a good bit more. Like an athlete who trains for a long time and wins a trophy it represents more than just that day. Same for a car show if it based on judgement of the results of time and hard work you put into a build. So, no the participant trophy does not diminish the 'real' one. Even some 'winner' ones are little meaning if it was because you had the most buddies there. Or,
I have been to a few where the classes were not well thought out and some had no competition.

Yeah, they could be...and probably should be.

However, since there is no governing body dictating the rules and requirements for most car show judging and placing like there is for athletic competitions...they never will be.

So all we get is a what there is to be had. A physical reminder of the day. Nothing more.

If I ever get a trophy from these Chevy lovin rednecks around here I will display it proudly!

Anyone remember the Pink Panther car?

I think the trophy is a personal thing. A sign of accomplishment especially when like Keith tears a car apart and puts it back together. To those who have done everything themselves it probably means more and it should. I remember when I was just a kid...fighting life of partying and getting into mischief...I jumped on a dirt bike and entered a race. 1st race ever and I took second place and was not given a trophy and it bothered me. 2nd race a totally different thing and placed high enough to bring home a trophy. That was 1972 and I still have it and many others in boxes in storage. But they represent a time in my life where I was good enough. I think Keith deserves a trophy for his accomplishment. His car does not have a $12000 paint job but HE did it

I think this is a very fair question, but where is my station wagon ? I wanted to buy an older car, not too big, I was looking at a late 1970ties Ford Granada, late 70ties Dodge Aspen, and when I with a tiny little smile brought it up my was like, you are not going to buy a station wagon. Ok ok, I did not. I ended up with a four door Dart from 1965, she did not like that either, but consider it already the family pet and call it the ba y Dodge.

So, our bedroom TV is slowly croaking, so she want to take the tv in the living room and have in the bedroom, and buy a 65 inch TV for the living room.

Now, such a tv toes not go in her 06 Charger trunk, and it does not fit in the back seat either. We have measured the 04 Grand Marquis too, no chance getting it in the back seat, and the Grand Marquis trunk is a joke for larger stuff. Well, there is one more car in the family, the Dart. It does not fit in the backseat, but it almost fit in the trunk. It goes inside the trunk but about 8 to 10 inches will be hanging out. So, the old Dart trunk is the best of them all. Imagine that
So, now am I asking again, where my station wagon ?I told her, oh, I have never said a station wagon was stupid... oh I adore my wife, it was all in a friendly gone. But I still wonder, where is my 65 Dart station wagon 170, with a 170 cu in slant six and 3 speed manual transmission ?

Bill. :-)

Well, I love wagons and am with you 100% on getting one. But... I would have the TV delivered. I had the Magnum but got delivery of our 55" from Best Buy for 2 reasons. 1. If damaged its on them. 2. They took away my dinosaur 51" projector for like $15. Win-Win

I will mention it to her. :) Sounds wise. But I really do where my station wagon is, I can not get over that one. :D

Obsession isn’t always a bad thing...:D
Other things need to get done. Think i will at least prop the window up so it wont fill with snow. And change the wheels. And maybe see if it will turn over. And seee if maybe it will fire. Know where this is going ,eh?

We have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. It fits 30 sheets of 1” thick 4’x8’ sheets of plywood in the back when the seats are folded down and I call it our “family truckster”. It has hauled more stuff than I can count.

Yep...obsession on your mind!

Stuff that get you excited to work on and gets you motivated are a good thing!

For some reason, I always preferred the valiant wagon over the dart wagon.

Not to say I would ever turn down a dart wagon, but I always felt the valiant looks shorter and better proportioned with uniform wheel openings and simpler dashes.

One great thing about living in a town...or village of about 1000 people....cops are only on duty during certain hours....so I had to move the Duster tonight...ssoooo, I drove it around town for about a half an hour...no bumpers, no hood, no plates, seat not bolted in...hell!! Its not even registered or in my name.....sure was nice to drive around though.......lol

Had the 99 til a few weeks ago. Daughter smashed it.
Now she wants to move home from the city. I need a van...
I have an 08,was given to me. Needs a safety. And it digests a little bit of coolant.

Would you turn down this one ?

Found the picture on the net, and I am just teasing a little. :-)
