Yes, the gas supply, all those little holes for flame, and the tub , vacuum it or blow it out, and adjust the air gat to achieve as blue of a flame as possible, I bet thats most of your problem.

What model Garrard did you buy/do you have, Mike? Some of them are highly sought after, and worth a pretty penny these days.
Not much here , just putting the car away for the winter .
The orffes is determined buy the btu heat that grill will put out, if its plugged just a little inside with dust, rust or spider webs its out of sink, and all those holes for flame MUST ALL be open or you will get a dirty burn, absolutely! Clean it, and adjustment.. it may be ok, I would hang an O2 sensor up near the ceiling upstairs where it stinks, maybe before you clean and service it, I bet it goes off, then clean it, and see what happens to the sensor
I would have to find a picture, it was a 1980 top of the line model, strobe direct drive. Adjustable speed. Sold it 8 years ago for 600 to take my older brother on a site seeing trip threw the smockies.. he passed away 5 months later.

Had a great visit with my boy, on the way home just a few blocks from the house this HWY. sign has been laying in the ditch with a bent pole for months and they already replaced the pole and sign. I had to rescue the poor thing and it's now in a nice dry garage knowing it will never get ran over again. I do have a good heart when it comes to rescue signs.
