I never chose to participate in the 401k plan at my company since they don’t have a match program. I found out today that the reason there’s no match is because they just automatically contribute the equivalent of 3% of salary whether I contribute or not. I got a statement today showing 3% of my pay added into an medium growth account over the past 2-1/2 years that I had no idea existed.
