Stop in for a cup of coffee

I'm having the same problem, but it's with my 10 year old son on his phone! If left unchecked, he could spend 7 hours or more on it! Out of the 10g of data we all share, last month he used 8.5 of that! Just found out how far behind he is with his school work that he has now lost his phone privileges! Its a constant battle that frankly I'm tired of fighting, so he's gonna have a clear, phone less head for a good long time!!! Hands down, the computer/phone is the single biggest problem facing kids and parents today IMO! Used properly, it can bring you untold benefits, misused it's an incredible thief of time, energy and ambition!!

Sorry to hear of your situation Mike, just know that you're not alone, and I'm praying for the best for you and your son!! Geof

Geof that is so well said. My daughter was the worst of the two growing up. To put it mildly I had a Lindsey Lohan wanna be here and the cops or social workers or CPS or all at the same time were here just about daily almost all of it because of phone/internet issues. I really felt sorry for them and unfortunately I was on a first name basis with all of them. I came home many a time, from work, saw the cars and wanted to turn around and go somewhere else many to many times. The kid new the law and held here toe to it so she would not get into trouble. My best day with her was when she turned 18, had a cake and gave I her her first months rent as a present. Whatever you guys do do not let it become an issue between you and your wife, I will never understand the power that a child has over their mother. Must be a woman thing not to see an issue in black and white when it comes to their child.

By the way good morning all!

Morning Rani, I wish you were my kid, life would have been simple. How is the shop doing?

I really wonder if propane makes a difference in cooking like some purist say it does.

I was thinking of that tonight because when it warms up, I am fixin to go fishing even if by myself since no one wants to go and I was thinking of what I can do with the catch cooking wise.

I love propane for the convenience of it. As long as the grill is seasoned (used) I love it. You can add wood chips for more of a flavor if desired.

Good Morning. Just a quick pass thru. Have to leave an hour earlier today.

Rani look into the back pack stoves. There is a $10 one on Ebay that I carry in my coat pocket when out hunting and fishing. It is the size a pack of cigarettes and the you have a little propane tank the size of a cup of coffee.

The computer is my addiction too! I don't have kids abusing it, but I sure spend too much time here

thanks. its a tough balance to find in raising kids from what I have seen. I have seen a lot of parents go way to easy and then there is my birth mom on the other end of the spectrum, who an army drill Sargent has nothing on. So there has to be a happy medium i suppose somewhere. I don't have kids so i probably have no idea what i am talking about anyway.

The shop is slow going and mostly closed these days ......winter is biting hard here.

wow i didn't even know about the little stoves.

Last time i went fishing i had just moved to Co and i went with a big group of people but i was a teen then.

I was passing over the bridge over the river not too long ago and saw a couple fishing and it looked so fun and that is where i got the idea.

I still need a fishing license and to do homework ...i don't even know what kind of fish come up in these waters yet :???:

I am ready for the snow to stop. We are expecting an ice storm this after noon and I need to go to the commissary around 50 miles away to stock up on stuff. It is worth the trip when I need a lot of dry goods.

Morning Dart.

its kinda strange how when you touch something really cold ...i mean really cold that for a split second you feel the same pain as if you touched something really hot.

Almost like the nerve receptors transmit the feeling of pain to and from the brain with no regard to which way the temperature is out of range to cause the problem for a brief time before other inputs are gathered.

Temperature is a weird thing.

i don't even know why i am spending so much time thinking about it ....i should be doing something more productive

Half of my body feels like that 24/7 along with dizziness. Kind like being drunk on a roller coaster in hail.

its amazing how many threads get past me .....there is a super six 2 barrel intake that was just marked "sold" with a bunch of replies in the thread and I never saw it in the first place.

So often I am seeing the for sale threads for the first time when its too late. maybe for my own good but makes me wonder how they are getting past me and I am on here all the time. :banghead:

without being a parent I would think communication is the key thing.

One of the reasons I like my adoptive mom so much is because when I made mistakes when I was younger......she took the time to ask why I did whatever I did. She really got in my brain and played out the situation and reasons and logic that was happening. One time she even agreed that she would have done the same thing after she heard all the details and understood the logic why I acted a certain way. That was really appreciated by me to have someone listen.

My birth mom would just see a mistake and right away start punishing and beating me up and never asked why once, sometimes I even got punished for stuff that was not even my deal but trying to explain was seen as "talking back" and resulted in an even bigger "*** whooping". And because of that I think she made wrong judgments and failed to see the details and logic and possibly other problems that she didn't see or care to see.

Makes a huge difference.

Our biggest problem was while in CA she was hanging around some kids that thought bad was cool along with gang stuff. These were kids in Military housing also! We never had a clue what was going on. That was one of the biggest reasons I moved to rural PA.

That amusement park doesn't sound like much fun. Think I'll go fishing with Rani. LOL

Good morning all. :coffee2:

what kind of fish do you guys have out your way.

I did a google search and it looks like I am near some trout ....that looks yummy ....kinda

I can give you pointers on salt water striped bass from the beach! All I ever fished for.

Good morning all. My wife and I had the Bad Cop - Good Cop thing going here with our kids. Guess who's the Bad Cop ?? Anyhow all of ours turned out pretty good my daughter is a Doctor, and my two sons are in business for themselves , doing very well. Sometimes I wonder if they still hate me. LOL

the more I research the fishing idea the more I am thinking that fly fishing is the way to go for my area ......which means I need to visit a sporting goods store for better equipment.

Right now I have a junior fishing pole with Scooby doo on it which is probably appropriate for my size but will probably look ridiculous among seasoned anglers LOL

with all the snow fall I bet the rivers and lakes will be fuller this year :farao:

I've mostly caught Bass and Catfish. I have caught Trout, but never actually went 'Trout fishing'. That's a bit more involved for the guys that are really into it. I'm more of a ' sit by the lake and watch the bobber' fisher. Been a few years since I even got a license.
