Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
Just starting now. They say snow through 6pm 8-10 inches. Gonna take the Comanche out later and have some fun.

I miss having the Yukon, Tranny went and I do not want to put 1500 into a used one. It has almost 200k on the body and engine.

A guy gave me this Jeep 7 yrs ago for some work I did on a Honda for his daughter. Had 205 on the clock and was leaking oil and very weak. I repowered it with an ATK rebuilt engine ( cause it was cheaper that way ). Then I lifted it some and had it painted by a buddy in this dark (flat) blue . It's my beater, go anywhere, farm, dump,go through the woods to get my deer Truck. Great to drive in the snow. People just stay away from it, it's so ugly. LOL

Morning all -14 temp here with -20 wind chill. We lucked out of the snow with only 1 inch.
They say will be 30 tomorrow and maybe 50 on sunday. I just sold a 69 Ford Ranchero and have to deliver it south of Kansas City next week. Sounds like a good week to go with warmer temps. Hope every one that is getting hit hard with the snow out east get through it OK.

Found out yesterday that one of my Heat Pump systems was not working properly. Hooked up the guages and dropped in some R22. Heard a hissing noise out were I was adding at the condensing unit. Shut down the unit so I could hear better. Yup, sure enough, Leaking at either the coil or the Accumulator. I have two sysyems on my house since it is 3000 sq ft. Unit upstairs was replaced by me last fall. The failing unit downstairs is 28yrs old. So.... it looks like I get to change the entire system for downstairs. Air handler included. Gonna cost a little more on this unit as I am going to change the emergency heat feature over to LPG. Works much better than Electric coil back up heat. Was not expecting to lay out 3k for a system, but Hey.... How much will I save by doing it myself ??

The house that I'm in now was originally built with heat in the plaster ceiling. You could set the temp of each room individually.

Then dad had it converted to heat pumps in the 80's. The guys had a hell of a time adapting this house for forced air.... :banghead: (4" concrete floors, 3 x firewalls in each wall, etc - this is a brick **** house). They couldn't keep up with our winters, so they were replaced soon enough with regular furnaces and work much better than the heat pumps... It's a 3000 sq ft ranch with a 1/2 basement on a .8-.9 acre fully wooded lot near a forest preserve.

That's a cool Commanche Mitch... :glasses7:

Memike, you got dumped on... Stay inside and have some coffee or hot chocolate... (Cuddle with Treva - nudge, nudge, wink, wink...) :D

And hello to any one that I don't know by name yet... (I'm bad with names, can I just call you all a--hole? I do answer to that myself....) :???:

Just checking in now, I've been up, just hanging with the older boy and made some grilled cheese for breakfast.... :)

Good morning.
Checking in late..
Had about 2" of very heavy snow on the car at 5:30 am. Got to work just north of York around 6 and barely anything here. Couple inches now, they just started to plow our lot.

Wouldn't be the worst I've been called - or answered to. LOL.

A buddy's parents had heat in their ceilings. He said when he was younger, they had a ceiling collapse due to the added weight when humidity got too high and softened up the plaster.

I ended up going to the VA yesterday. I just found out once again my case is screwed up. They cannot even recognize items submitted to them. Also my rep for five years is moving out of state. What the hell do you have to do to make it right? I have a stete representative and my federal congressman involved but it seems like all they do is monitor it! This is the third time I had to appeal my case. Really makes you wonder what the hell they do all day?

Just finished clearing the sidewalks at work. Took about a hour with me and another guy. Now we are enjoying some frisches breakfast.

:D I am getting heavily dressed for a walk and take some photos of this chit this morning :glasses7:
We don't get dumped on like this very often :D but I will consider that later (wink wink) :D

Yup. I'm cheap like that. Really pisses me off to pay someone a lot of money to do what I can figure out. I will get a guy I know to make the final hook ups and get the system going though.

DIY :thumbrig:
I installed my heat pump including pour slab for outside unit, hanging duct, returns in wall etc. Had a friend help run the copper. He soldered it and fired it up. No way I could have afforded the whole install. Don't have gas service, so backup is the old hot water baseboard with a new oil burner on it. ( and a wood stove when I'm not to lazy)

My mom fought with the VA for 10 yrs before she got compensation for my Dads death at age 56 due to exposure to Agent Orange. She started a support group for veterans whom had exposure issues for years after Dads death. She even worked closely with Admiral Zumwaldt on the issue , since his son was taken by the same Agent Orange exposure. She ran the Agent Orange Quilt of Tears program for many years before her death in 2004. Still miss my Parents today.

I gotta go to parent/teacher conferences in a bit. I gotta go...

If anyone asks, I'm not here.... (I'm somewhere else....)

Not this time.... :???: :angry4:

Good morning
Hops, Im guessing you meant MINUS 12 with wind chill since the actual temp is 7 here

My bad I am actually on the positive side this morning. The snow was fun yesterday we had a good whiteout here around 11 or so.

Fun in the snow yesterday... NOT. Got about 10 inches at the house. We were all ready to leave work at 1:30 and found out a tractor trailer was stuck across our entrance road. His dispatch told him 3 to 6 hours to get someone out to help. We tracked down a guy plowing and got some straps on it. He pulled the back end (empty)to the center of the roadway so he could back down the road. Was near 3 o'clock till we were able to get by him.
By then I was cold and wet. Still had to find my way home. Magnum is great in snow, so I was back reading around the traffic jams on the main roads. The wife did snow blow the entrance to the drive at least, so was able to pull in. Then a couple more hours clearing the driveway and a path to get the dog out the back door and off the deck....
Time to head into work and clean up whatever the snowplow guy left in the entrances...
