My sister made us lose the summer house on Long Island dad was going to sign over to us. She did not want to rent it one month a year to pay for the taxes and any repairs needed. Rent was 20k a month!! It was on the water also. *****!
 
On a high note.. I just rented the 2bdr 2bath apt above the garage for a k a month !!

I need to get going and find a chimney pipe! Top got damaged in the winds I guess just noticed it last night. Behave until I get back I don't want to miss anything!
 
It is in the poor part of the hamptons. The one across the street goes for 400k. Waterfront. Great grandpa bought it in the 1910's.

I hate how people who don't have to pay for the house usually wreck it. You would think that they would be greatful to have a roof over their head and take care of it.... :banghead:

I told her she either needs to buy out my half or leave... she has been looking for a place but has nothing yet. it's a mobile home. At least she is covering lot rent for now. Otherwise I might have abandoned it and let the park deal with her.
Given enough time, yes she would destroy it all. That's why Dad wanted me to get her out and sell it. She has no concept of how to take care of things. I just want enough money to pay Dad's remaining bills, get back money I spent on the roof, etc and get it off the estate. I am going get all the info to do an estimate ( NADA online), and see if she will take it. If not I plan to have it on Craigslist this week.

My mom had a "squatter" in her basement when she passed. we had to really push to get him out. He kept stalling, then waited until the day before he was supposed to leave to start looking for an apartment... The buyers delayed the closing because he wasn't out by the specified time. We finally got him out the week later using the threat that if he didn't leave, we wouldn't help cover his apartment for the first four months (we promised mom to keep a roof over his head for a year after she died - nothing more...)

If there is no incentive to leave, it's hard to get them out.... :finga:

On another note. Don't have my scale, so I can't weigh in today. But I can tell you I am probably about right where I was. However, I am making some changes. I have been on Lipitor for many years. Recently getting leg pains and cramps. Doc said to stop meds a month ago. Got tested a week ago and numbers were a little bit in wrong direction. So doing some diet changes and supplements to try to get things in line without med. With legs feeling better, I can do more exercise. Should be able to get rid of some pounds now...
 
isn't getting older a blast!? I've been so damn lucky so far - only thing I take is aspirin once in a while.. anyway, weighed exactly the same this morning as last Sat.. 227.. guess it's better-n going up but... oh well.
