That's why small block Mopar engines are so great...especially in A bodies. Big HP without the extra weight of a big block and helps the car be more balanced and handle better. Back in the day, the rule of thumb was an A body needs a small block and a B body needs a big block. Guys at the track would start sweating when you pulled in with an A body running a hot small block...I'm amazed a below 10:1 compression small block makes that. That's impressive

Just make sure you are running good fuel. 9.6:1 needs 92 octane or better. I know that pump gas in CA runs lower on octane and one good detonation and it will be a bad day. Stock up on fuel additive and use it every time you put fuel in it...especially if the fuel sits in it for more than a few weeks at a time. Octane drops fast after 2 weeks.Going to keep it for now, not looking to pull the trans. And it will probably be OK.
