Stop in for a cup of coffee

$7 is a fair price, but not great. It also depends on total condition and how hard it has been driven.
Yeah. I'll be going over it closely, I've got a friend that works at another dealer who will do a purchase inspection for me

Great! Just called, 9.6 to one comp, all blueprinted and spec'ed,
Hypereutectic Pistons gapless rings, 30 over pistons
Steel crank, dyno at 480 HP and 524 torque. Double roller chain, 202 intake valves, 176 exhaust. He suggests a mopar purple shaft cam. Scat H beam rods.
Nice build. Looks like I got close on my original engine HP guess. 25% drive train loss would put you around 360 RWHP (330 RWHP on a mustang dyno).

A purple shaft will tame it down nicely and still keep it 'beefy'.

I'm amazed a below 10:1 compression small block makes that. That's impressive

That's why small block Mopar engines are so great...especially in A bodies. Big HP without the extra weight of a big block and helps the car be more balanced and handle better. Back in the day, the rule of thumb was an A body needs a small block and a B body needs a big block. Guys at the track would start sweating when you pulled in with an A body running a hot small block...

it's amazing how much that bad boy sounds like mine - I am going to have to contact the original builder of mine and find out what #'s it had.. if they still have records...

Yeah kind of making me wonder exactly what my 440 will lay down it is supposed to be right at 10:1

Going to keep it for now, not looking to pull the trans. And it will probably be OK.
Just make sure you are running good fuel. 9.6:1 needs 92 octane or better. I know that pump gas in CA runs lower on octane and one good detonation and it will be a bad day. Stock up on fuel additive and use it every time you put fuel in it...especially if the fuel sits in it for more than a few weeks at a time. Octane drops fast after 2 weeks.

I can buy racing gas real close to me.

It depends on the entire build. Compression is only a small part of it. Stock 440 compression is 9.5:1
Yeah I'm pretty much copying one of IQs builds, only difference is the heads, I'll be running mild ported heads from Marsh performance va his stock full ported heads, flow on the bench is very close, his build hit 564 horse, I'm shooting for 500 flywheel

I don't think my slanty is putting down those kind of numbers!

Put a Blower on it!

With aluminum heads might get away with 91, I hope! That is pump gas here in CA.
