wow - great question - I know they allow swing out side bars - which are essentially removable...
I just looked it up, says says Main hoop must be welded to car/chassis with a horizontal bar

Or hide connection under foam padding. If it is sleeved it will be just as strong. The base section would still be welded in correctly.

How come no matter how nice a Mopar has been "restored", the wiring always has issues? IMO of course. I have a wiring Can-O-Worms in my 69. Cant trouble shoot the ALT because of the "modifications" made to the wiring harness. Shoot.

Putting in a roll bar in my car would sure take some of the sleeper look out of it. Of course it all goes away when it is started.

can't just pull it and take to an AutoZone or some place?

as soon as a tech see's padding 4" (or less) from the floor - he will be suspicious
not padding. simple take a piece of steel plate, weld to the bottom of the main hoop, then weld 4 studs to the bottom of that steel plate, drill 4 holes in the floor of the car, slide the thing in, use a second steel plate on the bottom of the car with nuts and bolt it in that way. Then figure a way to make a torque box looking thing to hide the nuts.......

It is a chrome powermaster ALT. So I will rebuild it if bad. New diodes more than likely. IF bad.

except that's 4 holes per plate - - and I doubt a single bar roll bar is good enough - is it?
