No stamp. It's all in the pistons. Other than the cam and the bolt on's everything else is the same. How do I know a 273 is HP stamped on it on the id block?

Nope. Just 273 cast in the block. No way to tell from the outside unless it's in full dress. (or you have a build sheet handy.)No way of telling on the outside then? I have no idea if this stuff is together or apart.
Like they say, It takes money to make money. Seems unfair but so it goes.Dam bad time to be broke!
225...oh, wait- already have a spareNot my thing, did have a 66 stang with a 289 in the early 80's, man that took some abuse. Chuck and Ken definitely know them, they were BSing for a hour over them. Keith has met Mad Santa definitely a ford guy and one hell of a body man.
Hey what engines should I look out for except the obvious, hell if they are going to go for scrap I will find a place to put them.
426
440
426 wedge,
413
340
273?

wonder what, if anything is still in there? You would think they would have something like that fenced off. Some kind of security. Or is it just that hard to get in as it is?Few pics of some relics of the Cold War. I sought many people around here ever know this is here. Pics are taken at the Lowry bombing range. Total of 6 silos and underground living quarters. Kind of erie driving by it.

If original, that seems like a good one. My understanding is the same as Mike's. Its the pistons that have not been reproduced, at least not in while. My friend looked into, but then got the race sanctioning organization to allow 318. That made a cheaper, larger displacement alternative and he dropped the effort to get a group buy on pistons. Not versed on them at all, look for a 4bbl manifold and a prestolight?

Ha! I got lucky, well sortof. Timken said the axle bearing play was within spec. .021" allowed - can you believe it? First time I've dealt with tapered rller bearing axles that didn't have end play adjustment.Thursday.chevy put up a good fight yeaterday. Replacing brake cables and found a blown axle seal.
The 800 dollar job has now pretty much doubled in parts and labour.
A few light bulbs and off for a safety.
I'm sure there are/were a lot of these sites. Maybe some were modernized or re-purposed What did they do with the others. Don't know where we have missiles now, but I would guess its like strip malls and big box stores -cheaper to build a new one than bring an old up to date. Did they at least get the missiles out? Had to be a good bit of electronics down there too...Always wanted to walk around inside one of those, when I was in NY the base had a ghost town on the other side it was a Nike missile site, that was pretty cool to poke around in, still had the desks etc.
What about 400's?273's only if they are Hp engines and complete. 340 anything. 383's are still around because so many have switched to 440. 413 or 426 wedges are popular with the early B body guys and are worth some coin. 440's are always good property and of course Hemi stuff is always good Gen1's or Gen 2's.
400's are great, because they have the biggest bore, and they are still a low deck engine, which makes them more suitable for A bodies. Most people Stroke the 400 to make big power, which is what I am doing for my 65 Belvedere A990 Clone. What about 400's?
Oh,and while you are doing the brakes i supplied, can you put this pipe in?lets see, its too big, wont make the bend and theres nothing to hold it up.think i quit using that stuff in kindergarten. View attachment 1715116578Not even going to attempt it.
