Stop in for a cup of coffee

My wife is making me crazy; won't give me a clue what she wants. Well, she told me to get her some flannel lined jeans and car seat covers, and I got those, but I know she's getting me the cutting and welding set for my oxyacetylene torch, so I gotta come up with something for her that costs 'round about $150 just to keep up. So I thought: No problem: Jewelry is always good. Then she says "Don't get me any more jewelry." Sheesh. But she did say she wants a birdhouse and a cement cross to put in the lawn. I looked everywhere for a cement lawn cross. Angels, monks, madonnas, gnomes, deer, frogs, ya' cn get all that stuff, but just a reg'lar cross is hard to find. But look what I found this morning on FacebookView attachment 1715122758 , right up the road here in Gratz! I'm goin'.

Don't do it! Next she will hand you a shovel and tell you the hole needs to be six feet deep!!!

Morning, played uber this morning, took my wife to a Dr's appt. today. Then I get to head out to do my run. Shopping is all done, so it's all good.

Long day today, my dad was taken to the hospital and they called for the family to be there. I think we are nearing the end of the road with his Alzheimer's. I don't know how much longer he will go on.

Dang man, that's tough as can be. The toughest. You'll stand your watch with honor and dignity I know, 'cause it's your time for that, and you're good for it. He looks so much like my Dad did, the day Mom called and told me she thought he was gone, and I flew up to their house, and found him there, where he'd tried to sit down on the way back from the bathroom, when the time came, I guess, and he'd squashed the waste paper basket, with his arms sprattled out over the bed. And I lifted him up onto the bed and kinda laid him out there, and he weighed, like, nothin', not at all like the big big man, the golden gloves boxer, the pipeline engineer he'd been. The years, the heart and lung disease, and all those heavy heavy medications he was on, had taken the ultimate toll, a piece at a time over 15 years. But I couldn't help but smile a little, to see he was smilin', a big ol' smile of acceptance and relief, the smile I'd always known in the best of times, that I hadn't seen in years. And hey: My brothers hid from him, stayed away when he was real old and sick, and now they carry some contrived, glorious view of him, that wasn't him. But Sharon and I: We were there, bought the place right next door so we could tke care of him to the end, and I saw the best and worst of Dad, and got him right here in my heart like he's supposed to be. And so will you. The parting's only for a little while, buddy.

Since folks are listing there day with the afternoon coffee.. I ran down to the garage to check on the jeep's original lower speedometer cable, pull whats left of the gear indication pointer and change the tail- turn signal bulb. From the service manual it looked like it should be the middle one - 1157. After wasting 15 minutes trying to figure out why the bulbs looked fine, the grounding, etc, of course I then realize its the upper bulb (1156). lol. This time I wrote it down.

Now I'm just waiting for the neighbor's dau in law to pick up their spare key. grump grump. "almost there" 20 minutes ago. 45 minutes late now. Doggie is looking at me like WTF, lets get movin'..

Tommorrow I'll try to find a place that will make up a speedo cable with plastic to fit the original case. All the 'replacement' cables are almost a foot too long - I knew it wouldn't last grump grump

Saying some prayers for your Dad and you, Dave. I know a bit of what you are going through. Seeing someone who accomplished so much, now so helpless. And someone who did everything for you, yet now you can't help him. For me I try to believe they go to a realm where they dwell in the glory they deserve.

Oops, what did I miss?

I guess ya don't need a rub with 3 fresh coats of paint. That's seasoning enough. Bad Alex, bad bad Alex. That quad latte is still having an effect I think.

Tried the long one in the blast cabinet-it just fits. May have to cut a hole in the side so i have room to get at the ends.
The plus is if i paint em now, they will have plenty of time to cure. Then cook them for a while.
