If you put caulk in the channel and then the rope, didnt that make a mess on the inside of the car, when you pulled the rope out ??I'm assuming that will be like Hoppy's. No filler cord on the outside like mine(completely different....) I think we put his gasket on the glass first with no sealer. Then put rope caulk in the outer groove and ran the rope around that. IIRC we wrapped it so the ends were in the bottom center. So you pull rope from inside the car as someone puts pressure on the outside of glass. Putting the more difficult bottom corners in first. As for lub, I actually like Windex. Not as good as far as letting it slide, but will evaporate completely and not leave a soaf or oil residue that would prevent you from adding any sealer if it leaked.
Pick up rear slider windows go in that way.I remember seeing my body shop friend installing a Bug windshield in that fashion, but I'll be dipped if I can remember the details.
Rope caulk. Not the stuff in tube. Tuck it in as far as possible and don't push the rope into it. You will get a little on rope, but was not a problem for me. I know some guy do them with no sealer. I can look tonight what the body manual says for the back glass. Gotta go do the work thing now...

My wife and I installed the rear glass on the Dart used the original weatherstip as it was still good. Used the rope trick. The lower corners suck but I ended up installing reverse of what was advised as I could not get it in the way everyone said.
I seen, I wont ever pull that off.
