The 340 is finally being rebuilt

Just a quick video displaying the current parts about to go back on/on the Dart:

Did you fully weld that k member up? I'm doing it to mine after I seen how much strength they get by doing that.

No, but in hindsight we probably should have prior to the powdercoat.
It didn't occur to me to do that, although it is in great shape.
NOW you tell me, lol.

Looks like its coming together real nice. The powder coating looks great... Can't go wrong with powder coat on that K member will hold up nice to anything...

Thanks for your service. Looks like this is going to be a great car. Keep us posted.

I got the same kit from The Right Stuff but I sent back those Cap UCA's, I have heard to many horror stories (several) about failing welds to trust them. They refunded my money which turned out to be like 350 bucks off the price and I ended up getting some from Firm Feel for the same price.

Thanks for the info. I'm going down to the resto shop this afternoon to go over all the parts I dropped off yesterday with George and he and I will discuss this and take a look @ the Right Stuff ones.
I've spoken with Dick @ Firm Feel and I can probably easily order ones from him and return the Right Stuff ones to Todd if need be.

Some front disc brake and rear end work on the Dart. The Champion Radiator and shroud came Tuesday, and the pistons and other engine parts arrived at the engine shop.

The engine shop has honed the cylinders and decked the block, which they told me was a bit of a job since it was so uneven. The Edelbrock components, minus the camshaft, have arrived, and the cam is on its way now.
The resto shop disassembled the rear end gears and checked them for wear, etc.
Here are some shots of the components to be installed/reassembled starting next week:

She's going to be killer when done and I love the rear discs, thinking of doing the same thing.
However when I looked at the picture in post 4 a shiver ran up my spine, look at the guy running the picker and checkout where his left hand is.[-X You might want to show the picture to the guy and show him how close he came to loosing some fingers.

Dang.....The Misses is on to you !!!!!

It's curtains for you !!!!! Lol

Thanks for the pics/updates....Looking very nice!!!

You're right, and I hadn't noticed that before, good call. He's Chris, my contact at the engine shop, and a good guy. I doubt he realized his misplacement.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I am anxious to see her finished and back on the road.
That is in fact my Bride (of almost 26 years) in these latest photos. She was looking over my shoulder yesterday when I wrote George Ross, my resto shop guy, yet another check to square up with him for work done to date. I heard her choke when she saw the amount...

If you don't mind me asking, what wheel/tire combo are you running on yours? It looks great, and I'm looking to make a decision as to what will fit on my Dart.

The new Edelbrock cylinder heads are on, and hopefully by next week we'll be doing our dyno run with the 340. If I can get to the engine shop, I'll video it and post it here.

The Dart's steering box arrived today, fresh from its rebuild @ Firm Feel, Inc., (http://www.firmfeel.com/) in Vancouver, Washington. Dick @ Firm Feel was great to deal with, and I went with the Stage 2 setting on the rebuild. Looking forward to getting it bolted in and driving the Dart again.

What engine shop are you using? I am down in Huntsville, AL and considering an engine build. Looking for machine shops in the area.

If you bolt on the magnum timing chain cover and water pump you can then bolt on the serpent belt setup (at least that is what I'm been told be ten different people).

The shop is actually the 31W Insulation/Racing Team shop in Millersville, TN., just on the north side of Nashville, so not all that far away from you, Air.
We had a difficult time finding a shop we could trust to do the build correctly.
I believe they did, 1970Duster; I'm a spectator on this build, so I'm trusting and paying them to build it right.

Got to see the dyno runs of the rebuilt 340 today.
Amazing sound to it, and really looking forward to seeing it intalled back into the Dart GT.
