Things that you have done...

....and can't believe, for whatever the reason.....We all have done things that have left us scratching our head for whatever the reason. Perhaps it is because you are struggling to get the motor in your ride and you have made the same mistake 7 times in a row...
My most recent...was pulling wires thru some conduit. 160 or so feet with 360* of turns. Prior to attaching the pull string watched some videos of knot tying. Tied the pull string on, got the Gorilla tape on and taped the end up. Gave it a push into the conduit. Pull string didn't move the wire at all. Got about 140' of cables in before the string broke. Hmmm....perhaps if I staggered the ends of the cables....every time I pull wires I make this mistake...

Buy stronger pull tape? DOUBLE the pull tape? Use more lube?

I borrowed a stick welder a while ago
it has been ages since I last used a stick welder so before taking to the project at hand I decided to do a few test weld
I grabbed some junk metal and tried to find a clear section of work area to weld on
I got about 5 minutes into it when I realized the area I was working on was painted red

now that got me thinking...the top of my workbench is a stained wood, the top of my tool box is black
the only read surface I have is the top of my parts cleaner...turns out I was welding about 4 inches about 5 gallons of gasoline :banghead:
