In Memory Of STANSBLUE72
Hi everybody. I Hope this is OK to post here. My name is Melanie, and my dad is a member here... StansBlue72. He has been a member here for sometime, and often talks highly of all of you, saying what a great group of people you are. He does not know that I am posting this, but wanted to reach out to all of you.
As you all probably know my dad has been fighting cancer for a long time now. He is on his 3rd round of Non Hodgkin Lymphoma, he had a stem cell transplant early 2014 with his own cells, and a few short months later the cancer was back. He has continued to fight it, but the cancer has once again spread. His most recent scan has shown it to be in his ankle, shins, knees, a large mass growing in his stomach, and behind his right eye. We just yesterday moved back to Seattle to stay in the Pete Gross cancer housing while he begins treatment yet again at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
On Wednesday February 18th my mom, my dads wife of 40 years had a stroke, and she has been in the hospital since. She has lost feeling in the left side of her body and the eyesight in her left eye. She is hopefully going to be released from the hospital on Saturday. She won't yet be able to go home and she will have to temporarily move here in Seattle with my Dad and I, and I will be taking care of both of them. I am also the mother of 4 young kids (15,14,11,4) and my husband (also a member here but he rarely posts) has taken on a great deal of stress doing both his job, and my job with the kids so I can be here to take care of my parents. My parents are both amazing people and I am happy to be able to be here for them.
My dad is going to put up a good fight, and hopefully this time he kicks this cancers butt. But, the expenses and stress are building up. Just to stay in this small cancer housing apartment it costs $2980 a month, and he is still having to keep his house at home paid for and running while he is here. Now with my mom's stroke the medical bills between the two of them are building up, as are the worries about how everything can possibly get paid for. To heal they both need to stop worrying so much about money and focus on getting better, but thats hard to do when every day a new expense pops up.
This is where I come to ask for your help. Don't feel obligated to help but for those of you who want to do something, Please consider visiting this page:
