Ticking noise, 383, can't locate the source

that's the crazy thing. motor had 60 psi cold and 40 hot. of the 6 in the block, only had 4. cam plugs behind the plate. rebuilt it had the Same oil psi...

Those plugs aren't 100% necessary. The cam retainer, unless warped badly, will provide more than enough restriction. Still, plugs are more reliable than just the plate.

agree, but a 340 page helped me identify it, so I rebuild engine with all 6. like I said, it still ticked until longer pushrods.
