A friend of mine told me about that, he said there were only two tapes that made a difference. Been meaning to watch it
Not only that but two tapes absorbed heat and made the test medium (steel) hotter!

The DEI tape I used was one that was about 1/8 to 3/16 thick and had an insulating barrier. I think (not positive though) it’s one of the ones they tested that worked. I have a friend at westech I could ask. Either way my results were clear. Melted carpet prior to tape, no melted car post tape, so I’d say mine worked.

Finished up the heat shield today. Wrapped the backside of it in heat reflective tape. Then I was able to finish making the new spark plug wires.

Also picked up a tig welder. I used to weld for a living many years ago. Looking forward to getting it setup and messing around with it.

I wasn’t planning on replacing the steering wheel this soon. However, the turn signal switch in the column went out a couple days ago. And since I had to pull the old wheel anyway, might as well put a new one on.

Also, cruising the car around the other day in 70 degree temps. The intake air temp did not want to drop below 140 degrees. A little high for my liking. I’ve got some 1/8in aluminum left over, I’m going to see if I can add another section to my air filter heat shield that will help divert air from the passenger side hood scoop into the filter.

Added another plate to my heat shield. This should direct the air from the passenger side hood scoop a little better. It’ll have to do for now until I can figure out what to do about an intercooler.

Have you considered coming out of the super charger inlet with a 90 degree turn that passes through the inner fender and continues to some kind a housing with your air cleaner inside it? It would have access to cooler air from under the fender, while being protected from water and stones being splashed up from the tire.

Sure it another hole in the car, but you could also put a chiller just before the 90 degree bend before going out the fender.

I have considered that, really my only hang up is that I don’t want to cut the car up more than I need to.

I’m tossing around the idea of going through the inner fender and routing the air inlet to where the filter sits behind the passenger side headlight. I’d like to figure out a way to fit a newer SRT challenger headlight on the passenger side (the round headlight that is hollow in the center that is used as an air inlet for the hellcat challengers).

I’m also concerned about tire clearance with running the inlet tube into the fender.

I’ve seen this setup on another abody that is supercharged in a similar fashion to mine (see pics). But for mine, I’d like the filter to be able to intake cleaner air from the front of the car (at the headlight location)

Remove the fan from the firewall, extend your intake into the passenger side of the cabin. :)
Might make for some fun in-cabin sound effects but would be cooler than sucking in air from the engine bay.
Actually if you gutted the heater box it could pull air from the outside cowl.

UPDATE:

Temps are heating up here in NC. Starting to see issues with keeping the IAT down. When I get some time I’ll be moving the blower intake to fresh air and I’ll need to fab an intercooler solution. I’ll more than likely remove the hood latch assembly so I can fit an intercooler behind the grill (I’ll be forced to run hood pins but oh well)

AND

I picked up a Hughes intake for the car for an absolute bargain, I wasn’t looking for one actively, but it was a deal that I could not turn down. Should help with flow a little bit.

That tape works good, I did my ice box and all the air/water intercooler hose in it and it keeps the water cooler than without it. Had to wrap the hose with electrical tape since the heat tape didnt care for the rubber hose and sticking to it well but with the electrical tape its works good.
