Tow Rigs

It's either bright red or orangey Mike. I'm partially color blind, but I call it bright red - for whatever that's worth. :glasses7:

I know the Z/28 is Medium Gold metalic because that's what I ordered back in 1974, and the paint is original. :)

I've had gasser pick ups and I'll likely never go back to one. Rather pull stuff with a diesel. My beast with the ugliest camper shell known to man... 95 Ford F250 PSD, 5 Speed, 4.10. Gets 17 MPG loaded or empty on the highway. May swap out to a 3.54 to lower the R's a bit and hopefully boost MPG.

Just for everyone's info I owned a trailer company for many years and I'm an authority on all things towing. If anyone has trailer questions or needs running gear parts, I still have my old connections and can get screaming deals on hydraulic and electric backing plates, all things electrical including brake controllers waaaay cheaper than even most Internet sites. So if you guys need stuff shoot me a pm and ill be more than happy to lend my expertise or get you a killer deal on parts to save you money. After 15 years in the business I've seen it all and done it all including building custom trailers from plans up both open and enclosed.

Here's my setup.....1990 GMC

.......but its kinda hard to beat an F-350 with a 460

Then you obviously havent tried a cummins!

Nothing beats a Cummins when it comes to towing:

I thought this truck looked familiar. Hi Ace!

I almost always use my dad's 20ft flatbed trailer with a winch and dovetail. Its 20 years old and homebuilt, but the nicest pulling trailer I've ever used. The other is his 24ft enclosed. I dont normally like to use it cuz the mileage suffers more.

I've had a bunch of different 81-93 Dodge trucks. I had one as my first car when I was 16 and I've loved them ever since. Heres my current: 1993 W250, cummins, 5 spd, 3.54s, 22mpg empty. Havent towed much with it yet. Its mostly stock but runs decent. This is literally the newest truck I've ever owned.

My last diesel. 92 D350, 5 spd, 3.54s, 16 mpg towing, 19-20 mpg empty, and a whole lot of ugly.

My 83 W350 crew cab diesel. Cummins, 5 spd, 3.54s It ran good, but the conversion (not done by me) was shoddy and I got tired of fixing it. This one of the trailers I pull, a 24' enclosed.

My 1st diesel. Early 91 D250, that I converted to a D350 dually. Non-intercooled cummins, 5 spd, 3.54s. 23mpg empty, 19-20 loaded. Really wish I finished the paint and kept it. I LOVED this truck. Sold it to buy the pos crew cab above :(

2006 Tundra XSP First car pulled with it and it pulled our 18ft 3 ft dovetail trailer great. For tying the car down we use chain goin through the attatchment points on the corners.
Only haul cars home with it. Have air assist on order for the truck.
Always drive the charger anywhere never been towed since finished 20 plus yrs ago.

2000 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab Long Bed w/ V-10. Gets 12mpg when hauling nothing, 8mpg w/ the GTS in the 24' Storm trailer. Turning this thing around takes a L-O-T of wide open space! LOL

Sure beats my old 1996 Ram 1500 360 with a 18' open hauler as far as comfort and ease of towing. But the Ram and open hauler could be parked and turned in a 1/4 of the space as the current rig.

Here is my rig. Best truck i have ever owned, just turned 100k this morning. Thought about making it a cake but i suck at cooking just bbq'n

Well my kid blew up the rear end in our blazer so the escort is the only tow vehicle left, and there's two trailers. 2 place snowmobile and a harbor freight 4x8, hauled over 1200lbs in it with that escort. Hey somebodys hold down the bottom of the tow rig thread. At least I've got 2 mopars.

Man that's a nice bee!

Here's mine earning it's keep. 2010 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 regular cab and short bed. 390 hp Hemi and 3.92 gears do the job. :thumblef: The dead Ford 4x4 extended cab and a load of parts in the bed of both trucks is making it squat a little, though. Trailer is a PJ.
