Well I ordered myself some new valve seat cutters

I can tell you this…….
At my shop, it’s pretty easy to spend $1000 on refurbishing old factory iron heads.

About a year or so ago, a friend with an auto repair shop dropped off some pretty undesirable SBC factory heads.
They came off some smogger 350 that had been stuffed in an Elcamino, and it was getting a re-ring job.
So, the heads show up reeking of nasty old gas.
Immediately stunk up the whole shop.
Besides the smell, they were quite nasty with sludge and carbon.
Another shop in town has an oven/shot blast cleaning system that’s perfect for this type of job.

I told him to bring the heads over there for cleaning.

I had thrown out the figure of “around $1000” to go thru them.
Plus, I was busy, so it wasn’t going to happen in a week.
When the heads got dropped off at the other shop a conversation happened over there, with the gist of it being that it probably wouldn’t cost $1000 if they did the job.

So, he had them do it. Why not? Cheaper and faster.

Well, one out of two……..
They got them done in less than two weeks……..but it was still $1000.

I offered up my stone dresser, air grinder, and several boxes of stones on here for the cost of shipping. No takers so I put a post up to my local friends on Facebook for pickup only. They were gone in five minutes and picked up that night. More junk gone.
Wish I see the ad.

Man the thing is I don't know about the "affordable" stuff I did see a Neway kit used but it doesn't have the arbor I need for small block Mopar so...its like
