I built a new set of guages for my truck,got these on ebay for 35 $ some sheep china stuff and to my surprise thay al work,made the plate of some scrap i had,onley time whill tell for how long they hold up,fun prodject doe

First drive of this summer,runs grate and a loot of power,them diagonals is not gona last to long if I knowe me self haha
Got my hood. I love it.
Pulled the front wheels and went over the front suspension looking for any "loose" nuts , bolts etc just checking before a 180 mile road trip this Sunday. Everything looks good

Got the front drives on the 360 in the DeSoto sorted out so took it for a shake down on Saturday.

I built a 383 on my kitchen table almost 40 years ago 
Put the short block together, slid it onto a thick stack of newspapers and balanced it with one hand while yanking out papers one handful at a time... once it was on the floor, I bolted the heads on. Then I had four friends from work come over and we carried it out to the car with a chain slung over a 4x4" wood beam. Ah, to be young again...

MITP with great friends and family
Not my car today, it was my 2006 Tundra.
Drove 40 miles to pick up two pallets of sod. They load it up and I take off. I get 1/4 mile down the road and the temperature gauge is nearly pegged.
So I turn around and head back to the sod farm. It's a family owned business run by a really nice old lady.
The radiator hose from the pump is barely warm, upper hose is damn hot. So I call the wife to pick up a thermostat and bring it to me. Once it cooled enough, I pulled the three nuts and hose. Once the wife arrived it only took 10 minutes to get going again.
Good thing it happened when it did since I had a mountain to drive up!!
By the way, the wife and I put down four pallets of sod this week, two Tuesday and two today. That's honest work!

My new Autometer fuel gauge arrived today ($60+ and the lowest price was from Rock Auto)... so I removed the intermittently sticky S-W fuel gauge and replaced it with this one. It's worse than it sounds since I had to do a lot from under the dash and through the mounting hole. At least it was the same size hole!
So then I exercised the old gauge on the bench for a while, and of course it worked perfectly
I was just about to quit when it hung at 5/8 full again. It's going in the trash. As much as my Dart gulps from its 10-gal fuel cell, I need a working gauge!

Fixed a loose hose on the fuel pump on the Polara, now it's ready for the trip up to Stillwater for MITP with the rest of the misfits that are there. First drive of the season for me, kinda late, but better than driving the newer car.

I had my seat bottoms rebuilt with new foam. Today I put the backs on and got the tracks back together. I should be able to get them instead in the car tomorrow. Once I finish that the car will be mobile again.

I've got the '77 B200 Sportsman camper van on the lift today due to big "clunks" from the front suspension when going over bumps and around corners. I found that one of the front sway bar brackets was a bit loose where it attached to the lower control arm, and had moved over into contact with the strut rod, so I loosened it up, moved it over where it's supposed to be, and tightened it up with a breaker bar and extension.
I also found that one of the outboard shoe retention flanges, I think it is called, on one of the front disc brakes had fallen out of position and is rubbing on the inside of the rim. Wonder what causes that?? I'm going to have to remove the wheel and probably the caliper in order to see what is going on there, and I'll probably take advantage of the opportunity to pack both front wheel bearings because I can't remember the last time I packed them.

I finished all the body work and prep and got the Maaco special. I am happy with it.
Cleaning up the exhaust and prepping for install.
New wrap tomorrow and assembly.

I got the seats back in and drove to car to the gas station. It was the first time out since last fall. I topped up the tank and the gauge reads full. It will be nice to have a working gas gauge again!
