What movie/show gets to you?

The Warriors - the original cut without the cartoon transitions between scenes. Makes you want to fight after watching it you get so pumped up.

I love this scene at 2:41 where he pummels the guy with two sticks (arnis) just before he takes the numchucks away from another guy.

No, if it wasn't for Bruce Lee, fight scenes today wouldn't be what they are. His 1" power punch was so powerful, he could knock people off of their feet, He would go to fight demonstrations and tell black belts where and when he was going to hit them, and he was so fast that they couldn't block him...

1" punch:

Never doubted his martial arts ability, just his acting ability. lol

I thought "The Green Mile " was a great movie. It had me thinking a lot even after it was over.

Wizard of Oz. It's embarrassing how bad it busts me up, Dorothy being an orphan and living with her aunt and uncle, when she sings Over the Rainbow, and at the end when she has to say goodbye to the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion. Even though it's only a dream.

More recent, Wendy and Lucy, it was really good, Hillary Swank trying to find a better life, travelling with her dog.

Cars.

Lots more I can't think of.

Can't stand The Food Channel. Why spend all that time watching somebody cooking and jabbering on TV?

That's a great one. Gotta admit, I'm a softy for The Wizard of Oz myself.

Bruce lee...

I've got a soft spot for those movies. Watched them as a kid. Still break them out and laugh/ enjoy the footwork with my brothers over some cold beer n a slice of pizza.

Kudos.

Also, have him to thank for the aforementioned movie, The Crow. I won't watch the series or any of the sequels. You really don't need a follow up after a movie like that.

I don't think there's anything wrong with vampires. It's just as played out as bacon, guys in girl jeans with huge beards and fixie bikes, wearing Arcade Fire shirts, but what the hell, I like Arcade Fire and I drink Starbucks. To each their own.

Speaking of Blade, that was a great story and great movie series.

I also really enjoyed Batman the Animated Series. That just hit DVD/Blu-Ray this year.
Mark Hamill as the joker in that series is all I can hear when I think of the Joker.

I really enjoyed the Tim Burton Batman flicks with Michael Keaton. Esp. the 2nd one with DeVito as Penguin and Catwoman. I think Catwoman is the best villan, because she is so relatable to Batman.

I also enjoyed the first two Christopher Nolan Batman movies. Heath Ledger was unreal. The shot of Joker running the wind through his hair out of the cop cruiser sends chills.

Heath's last movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is well worth the spin. I need to buy that disc.

If you like B/ Horror movies, I bought these and watch them whenever I can-

And while I'm on B movie central, do yourself a favor and watch some Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Anyone seen Run Lola Run. A german movie about how + or - a few seconds can affect the outcome. It plays a similiar scenerio three times with different acts affecting the outcome.

Pretty cool movie. The way it transitions from real life to cartoon. Whenever she bumps into somebody, how it affects their future. Many things to see in this movie, it may take a couple/few views to catch it all. They used to have an english version on line, but now it's gone. You have to read the subtitles for this version, but it is still cool.

!!

That's another movie I should buy.

Saw that at the Mayan theatre. Thanks for reminding me. You've got good taste.

Totoro is a great movie to watch with kids.

Also, to anyone who appreciates miniatures and really interesting people, saw this at the Denver Film Center, with a Q/A with the director up front after the movie. I think it's on Netflix;

A guy who was beat up, has amnisia (documentary, actually has it from brain damage) and makes an extremely intricate miniature town with G.I. Joes and other dolls with a story based off of friends he uses as characters. I loved this;

One movie that I regret extremely, for not seeing in theatres, aside from Idiocracy (lost ad budget, Mike Judge's swan song, watch it and die happy), was Step Brothers. I was in tears from laughing so hard.

Drive: makes me wish there was more
the first show mentioned here that made me have to comment.

That one got to me too- in such a way that I'll never watch anything with Goosling in it again. Wow that movie was overrated. Bad, like. Terrible. And booriiing. In the words of the movie reviewers on 'In Living Color': Hated it!

But if you liked it, good for you lol.

Mark Hamill as the joker in that series is all I can hear when I think of the Joker.

Sarah bought me the Batman the Animated Series collectors edition for Christmas about four years ago. The whole series on disk, plus a companion book in a large box. Loved it back in '92, love it now.

For Father's Day I bought myself the complete set of Superman the Animated Series.

Funny you mention Mark Hamill as the Joker above. For me, no matter who puts on the costume as Batman, Kevin Conroy is the only Batman out there. One of the reasons I'm thrilled when they bring him back to voice Batman on all the follow up series, like JLA and JLU, and movies like Batman/Superman Public Enemies or Batman/Superman Apocalypse.

Netflix has a lot of them streaming. And youtube has a variety of shorts. Can't get enough of this show.

I'm actually shocked this crew hasn't come up with "The Blues Brothers"

I raised my girls on this movie.

Along with Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Airplane, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Speaking of the Grail, when my oldest was in the sixth grade, her teacher was going over the middle ages and showed the Black Knight scene from that movie to illustrate combat and whatnot. My kid is in the back of the class, quoting the scene word for word. "It's only a flesh wound" lol.
