What's the going price for...

Someone local to me is trying to get $750 for the "rare" intake, but me thinks he's smoking something funny.
they're fairly rare, but rare ≠ valuable

most anybody running a W2 combo is dialed to "kill" and that intake is more "stun", especially when measured against what's available for the W2 setup.

i guess if you were trying to be low-key and pass off as stock LA parts at a race or something, a piece like that would have some added value.

as they say: askin' ain't gettin'

Thanks, that puts things in perspective.

I've been eyeballing W2 stuff for a while but just can't get myself to pull that trigger. So when stuff comes up for sale I poke my head over the fence and see what's up.

Lot's a commitment to that setup.

While I agree with your price assessment, what would you consider a "set to kill" intake for a W2 setup? I mean.....the STRIP Dominator on top of W2 heads would see 9K if you wanted it to.......

I payed $300 shipped to my door for a Victor W2 from a sale ad here on FABO. and the victor will womp womp on a strip dommy.

Maybe. But it ain’t making any power there.

I’d say that’s a damn fine assessment there.

Maybe not, but I'd say it's dependent on the rest of the build, too.
Well, Gliddens 314 cu/in w2 had a huge tunnel ram and a pair of very large dominators on top of it and I bet it didn’t make power peaks at 9k. He might have shifted it up there but it didn’t peak there.

I didn't say peak. But wouldn't you agree we have camshafts light years ahead of what Bob used?

Yea I think lobe technology has come a long way. But not enough to make a w2 set up with a strip dommy make power at 9k. Thats a 6500 rpm manifold. And the heads would need to go 400cfm on 300 inches to get there.

A standard Strip Dominator will go more than 6500, much less a W2 version. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Brain at IMM has done dyno testing on both. I’ll quote him from a moparts thread titled w2 strip dominator vs edlebrock victor w2.

“Bob: those intakes are very close in performance untill you get to high rpm (6500+).
They perform similar everywhere else IMO. I prefer the victor when I build a sb mopar”

The fact is both intakes are pretty good. And both will make power as cast up to about 6500. Professional porting can and does help that a bit. But only a few hundred rpm. A manifold and a cam change isn’t going to make a 6500 rpm small block a 9000 rpm small block.

Ok, well I guess there are only 2 people in the world whose opinions are correct.

Just honest. A lot of the old wives tales of shifting this garbage at 9500 rpm with a 2 barrel and running 10s on 6 inch bias plies are just that, tales. I might be crazy but I’ll damn near guarantee a W2 small block with a strip dominator has NEVER seen 9000rpm. Lets see some dyno graphs or time slips from the engine that does it.

victor, worked M1, ramsies of the tunnels, things of that nature.

turbo mike covered the bases while i was off doing raccoon things, but my thoughts are in the same vein. could a strip dom pull 9K? sure. is it making any power up there? nah.

So it's making ZERO power at 9K? Yall are delusional.

Look what it actually takes to get up there. This is a R3 block 460cu/in with W8s and a HUGE single plane. You can ask Brett about what cam is in it.

I’m actually saying it’s never happened at this point. I’m in the show me camp. I’d bet you could hold your foot to the floor in neutral and it wouldn’t get to 9k.
