Who has the highest revving small block?

-
My old 1985 Kawasaki Muscle bike relines at 10,500 and does it easily. And as you said it was very fast in it's day

I did a best of 11.58 @111 on the Kawasaki , with the pipe and oversized pistons , ran 12.3 @ 106 stock . With better tires could have done better . Now I guess it would be considered slow . Fuzzy pic , but ypou get the idea ,it's still sitting next to me .

I remember how fast and how much smoke those two stoke 750's were , they were awsome

I've got a 2006 kawi 636 that redlined around 15.5K. I also have a OS 18TZ on my RC monster truck. Single cylinder two stroke nitro methane motor, revs to around 38K

I haven't purposely pushed he 340 pasted 6K yet.

my harbor frieght air grinder spins 24,000 rpm....I guess that is relevant as some of the other post..

Here's a vid of a guy pushing his nova to 12,000 rpm. 289 cubes, probably bore stroke combo of chevy.

Grumpy went thru the lights with his 331 at around 9300

Same as mentioned here....8 to 9K for R5P7's but for 500 miles!! Like Will Smith said in Independance Day the movie, "I gotta get me one of these"!

I have had my 408 to just over 6500, still pulling, but I probably have over $10K in the engine. I believe Steve and Lisa Caldwell's 408 Dart goes thru the traps at over 7K

Buddy had an 400 Kawasaki drag bike years ago.....would not start making good power till about 8 to 9K, spun up over 14K

Thats the track I race at in eddyville Iowa. Monte Baker was the owner of that car it was one of the 10lb/ci its a real heads up car. He raced regularly at our old track, Thunder valley in Bethany Mo.

I had a ultra dyne 298/.620 in my 340 with ported j heads. It would turn 8300 with out any problem it was insane on rpm and very hard on valve springs.

A few weeks ago I stumbled across this guys right hand drive
Valiant. Heres an R5 P7. He's hitting 9K......

Man back in the day if your engine couldn't go 7500 rpm plus you were a sissy..lol
My little Red Dart in 78 had the same cam that I put in IfItsGotWheels car..the only differance was mine had a 250 shot on it.
I remember pulling gears on the bottle and the tach never dropped it stayed on 7800 rpm and the car would jump forward every gear change.
In 80 I had Jack Engle grind me a 278/286@50 for that Red Dart when I restored it and put a fresh bullet in it..I drove that car everywhere...it was an 8400 rpm bullet..
Mark with his 331 ford with yates heads would go 10000 rpm..Chomo with a 277 chev was the highest I've ever saw at 12000...
Markusa's Vette 8000 rpm..
Heck my 502 Low Deck for my GTX goes 8200 rpm so it's just not small blocks that can twist.

That thing sounded awesome when he leaves! But near the end of the video it almost looked like the big-block was coming around him on the big-end.

I love the sound of a high-revving small-block just as much as anyone. I think it's like a signature for precision machining and assembly by the engine builders. I admire the guys who can put one of those motors together like that - it's a testament to their skills as a great engine builder.

If I were putting together a motor today, I would personally go for the lower-buck big-block stroker cause with my skills (or lack thereof) I would have a better chance of it staying together than a high-winding screamer :burnout:

I left the line easy, then spun her up to 7200. Four gears and 8 seconds later I was going thru the 1/8 traps still at 7000. I thought the clutch was done.
While I was under the car, one of the tech-boys came over with some advice; " you should let some air outta your tires" he said, "they're still hazing at the top of the track."
The clutch was fine.
The track waschit
I went home.
11/1 360/230*cam/3.55s/ splitting gears.
This engine was last freshened in 2005 IIRC, and is now pushing 100,000 miles. I think in all the years I have driven it, it has seen 7000/7200 many times on every outing.
