Rav, $2400 may be a bit on the high side but I dont think its all that far off. I dont understand the, "if I dont get X amount for it Im going to crush it" mentality some people have with cars. If its not selling why not lower the price till it sells instead of giving it away for scrap?

Have a talk with him and tell him you'll buy it for what YOU think it's worth. If not, bye bye car, who cares. The scrap yard will probably leave it to the side and sell it themselves. I understand the urgency to sell a car but to demand $2350 more than scrap pays these days is stupid.

Who is really the loser here? If no one buys the car for $2000 let's say and he takes it to the crusher he only walks away with what... $300? If he could lose the threatening attitude he could lower the price a little at time until someone out there can afford to pay. I bet it would be more than what the scrap yard is going to give him for the car. This guy is a asshole that's problem.

Oh by the way that's not a 67 it's a 68!

Who knows...that might just be a scare tactic to make you think you better act now before its gone.

Make an offer of $1500 cash. The crusher will only give him about $700 for the hulk and he still needs to strip off the gas tank and pay for the tow. Scrap prices have been dropping lately so $1500 wold be twice what he could get for scrap. Plus you would be towing it so he wouldn't have that expense.

Why not make a side deal with the scrap yard of say $1000 and make the guy the same offer and tell him to put up or shut up.
Man, i'm getting tired of these "i'll crush it if i don't get big bucks for it" a-hole terrorists.:thebirdm:
Tom.

i think its more a STUPID TACTIC than a SCARE TACTIC .

i sent him an Email asking what his bottom line is on the car . for some reason im guessing its $2400.00 :thebirdm: :-D

plus i found this older ad for the barracuda looks like hes a dumbass

1967 baracuda fastback sale or trade (stahlstown pa)

1967 baracuda fast back 318,904,console shift, low back bucket seats,8 3/4 rearend, small bolt ralleys, car is all there needs resto, good tittle. i turned down 2400.00 for the car i would rather trade for a 70-73 dart swinger in good condition. dart dosent need to have motor or tranny.give me a email what you have im very easy to deal with.

if he was offered $2400..00 for it he should have taken it . i dont belive for a second he was ever offrered that kind of money , my guess is hes just antother doushe that thinks he has something worth a ton of $$$ . and now his wife is on his *** to get it out of the yard .

Im with yawl ,screw the sob. I wouldnt buy a friggin bicycle from the ahole. their are better buys in todays economy with much more personable sellers. If you want forward my message to him. like this icon he,s showing his ***.:bootysha:

I´m curious! When you say torque boxes, do you mean the reinforcement in front of where the leafsprings are attached?
I believe I read somewhere that it is only the 383 Formula S and the converts who had the rear torque boxes.
Maybe someone could chim in about this.
What does the Vin say?

Scrap is in the guter right now. He would get mabby 40 bucks for that car if he scraped it. He is just trying to scare people in to buying it for to much money.

I'm with you 95. It has the 68 side marker lites. What rear is in the car? The motor is a V8 so it maybe an 8.75. Scrap price here might max out at about $300 and that's on the high side.

I'm TOTALLY against the crushing of these cars. I'm the first to get pissed. But I'd say this Dick hole can just eat it then. I'm getting real sick of these kinds of idiots. I'll bet he is just threatening to do it. I've seen so many of these things happen and the dude usually will say that and then end up just letting it sit until he dyes or letting it go for a reasonable price.

i heard back fro IRV about the barracuda
here is the email i sent and his reply and my respounce

IRV , ill give you $100.00 over the scrap yard price that will save you time of removing the gas tank and towing it . if not what scrap yard will be taking it to ?

wow we all should go their and kick that guys :bootysha:......Just think he was the fastest :sign10: :-D .....what a jerk ...I hope he is in their when they crush it......:-D...I am w/ all you guys I hte people like that....I'd give it a way first...There is always a hot rodder that we know that would die for that car

Uh, lets see. Now wants 2,000 for the car. Would not take less than 2,400? Guy just dropped 400 on a price he said that he said he would not drop on and now makes the threat to get it crushed and film it to prove he is doing what he said. Let him!! Anyone with that mentality doesnt deserve to even have a car like he has. Too many people have crushed older cars for one reason or another and every time it happens it hurts the hobby. I hate to see it happen but in this case a lesson needs to be learned by this guy. He can get some bucks for it and let someone get a car to restore but he would rather get $150.00 bucks from the scrapper. Yeah right!!! This guy is a 'snapperhead' hands down. Maybe while filming the act he will fall in and get crushed himself. Wonder if anyone will offer any money to save him, NOPE NOT A PENNY!! I really think someone who can use this car or wants it for a later project should try to find out where its going and make a side deal with the owner of the yard like RAV asked and save the car thus really screwing the guy out of his warped satisfaction!
Chas,

I like that, calling him a terrorist.

The sad thing is, there are twisted people out there who would do that.

"If I can't have it, no one can........."

ROB

Just keep on him. He already went down $400.00. I think he is full of crap. He is a major *** though. I would like to run into him after a few hours of drinking. Anyway, he wont do it. That car is not going to the crusher. He's way too lazy to do anything about it. Or he would part it out and make way more money than he wants for the car.

There really are guys like this in the world...there's a lagoon near Ewa Beach Hawaii that's full of cars for this very reason....some were damn nice too. Stupid prices or "I crush 'em and use fo fill".

SS396 4spd Chevelle 'vert, Several Challengers, Roadrunners, a buick GSS 'vert and a '69 Barracuda fastback Mod Top among others.

Just walk away and pretend you never saw this car. The guy's a douche bag, plain and simple. He obviously takes pleasure from causing other people discomfort. Best thing to do is ignore him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did crush it, seems like a total a-hole. I saw a car on eBay once that someone did this to. It was an MG, not nice but totally restorable. I forget what he wanted for it, but it was more than it was worth. Anyway, after it didn't sell he posted it up again, AFTER he had it crushed, with pictures of him crushing it. I don't even know what goes through people's heads. Why not just ask a more reasonable price for it if you're obviously willing to take the huge loss on crushing it and selling it for scrap? :angryfir::angryfir::angryfir::angryfir::angryfir::angryfir:

Man I wished I lived in PA,........I would wrap meat around his legs and let my pits tear him up.

He's bluffing..... most of the people that say that are just using it to get people to buy it faster. I doubt he'd actually do it. By the emails though he sounds like a total friggen idiot, so I guess I wouldnt put it by him.
