I took a short piece of heater hose(2-3 inchs) , clamped to the fitting then stuck a unilug lug nut (for 1/2 studs)in the other end of the heater hose and put a hose clamp on that. Ran the car like that for 2 years, never had a problem.

I am ready to set the timing on my 67 273 and not sure what I should set it at. It's a 273 2 barrel, automatic, Isky E-4 cam(solid), Pertronix Ignitor I ignition, stock 2 barrel exhaust. Did I read the factory service manual I have right at 8-10 degrees advance at 1750 rpms? thanks Aaron

which spark plug wire retainers go on which side of a 67 273? I have two that are shaped kind of like an M and four that are just circle that clip onto the plug wires and then clip into the tabs on the valve covers. Thanks Aaron

Is it that the dealerships can't order them or that they WON'T? I went to the nearest dealership looking for a fuel pump concentric, and was told "we can order one but, you would be better off to go to a junkyard and get one", which I took as "we don't want to bother ordering one."

What happens if you get them in the wrong way. Yet another thing to be paranoid about, as if all the "my rebuilt small block wont start" threads aren't enough.

Oops sorry that first pick is a piece of wire I was pointing at the hole with. Not sure if I should put the water pump back on. Had to go to 2 auto parts to get a new gasket. The first one said "we can order it, it would be here tomorrow".

It also helps if you have your hand directly under the starter. I replaced a started in a 72 Fury(360)and had to finagle the starter around, stand it on end and it dropped between the tie rod and torsion bar, right on my finger.

Sorry, I was way overthinking this. This is my first solid cam, and I was stupidly thinking that valve lash was measured at the lobes highest lift, which was causing all kinds of problems in my head. Stock springs and retainers. Will do it that way tomorrow. Thanks

Elk Point, South Dakota, just north of Sioux City, Iowa. Been debating going hydrualic but already have all the stuff for solid. My brother put solid in a 340 and if I remember right there was an oil mod he had to do, seems like it was plugging(or unplugging) an oil galley.

So is a swap to hydraulic simply swapping the valve gear, cam, rockers shafts, and arms, lifters and pushrods, with no other mods needed? I do have a 318 I could rob rocker shafts and arms off of. Toolman what part of Iowa are you from?

Just start it. If you have the wrong balancer it will shake like crazy.

No expert here but what happens if you spray some in the cap and let some of the solvent evaporate so the paint will coagulate a little. Hope I can be of some help, cause you have proven very helpful to me. Thanks Aaron
