What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Loaded the car and washed the trailer. Now that's a LOT of work in the 90+ heat but the trailer sits inside my shop where I've been welding and grinding in my 69 Charger. It was REALLY dirty so a bath for it was in order. Topped off all the trailer tires (and spare!) and the truck spare too. Get all the tools together tomorrow and we'll be ready to head out on Saturday to the track.

Don't hesitate to also look at Summit. They sell all of the AMD stuff and often have $$ off deals. They will charge shipping but not usually too bad.

Took Krusty to the last weekly cruise-in at Stahl's auto museum [for 2025]. Everybody heard it coming....and they surely heard it down the street when I left.

Installed some new engine bling. Mancini had Mopar Performance valve covers but out of stock on the air cleaner. So, I had Ansen customize an Air cleaner. I went with 360 Magnum since I kept the LA v-belt front end.

I like the look.

Had a P0306 code on my 2000 van with a 5.2 Magnum, which indicates a misfire on cylinder 6. After troubleshooting the electrical and fuel systems, a compression test revealed, much to my disappointment there was actually 0 compression. This morning, with a new pressure regulator and gauge from HF, my cylinder pressure gauge and a few spare parts, I made up a cylinder pressure leak down tester to see what was going on. It looks like exhaust valve may be burnt as evident by the blown up glove on the exhaust pipe. There didn't seem to be any other leaks, which is hopefully a good sign, but I don't relish the thought of fixing it.

Took Krusty on a 20-mile round trip to my powder-coaters, and back. They've been wanting to see it, and I had to check some stuff out [longer drive].
It ate 4-5 gallons of 110, but have answers to some questions...and they loved Krusty.

Dropped off a used set of 440 Source Stealth heads I bought at the Moparty swaps last weekend to get looked at by the machine shop. They look fine, but better to have the shop give them a once over before screwing them to the 440 in my '66 B body wagon.

Came home, changed my fuel pump.. the one on it was making noises that had me thinking the motor was coming apart, now it sounds nice and quiet.. 200 miles on the first one :(

Then.. fixed my alignment, centered the wheel and adjusted the toe-in a bit..

Then.. Shifted my engine a little to the right to get a header tube off the torsion bar.. what a difference in comfort, thing was banging all the time..

rebled the brakes again.. working air out of the dot5 ****.. brakes are getting better with each bleed. (really loving speed bleeders)

And.. had my rear tires balanced this week.. 30" et streets that are insanely out of balancer, i have 5" of weight on the inside and outside of the rim on each. Made a big difference in vibration though

Today was back to the (Orlando) track with the avatar. For some reason, the car was faster than the weather/history says it should have been. Went 11.10 off the trailer at a bit over 119 in the almost 2500DA air. I was predicting more like an 11.15. So dialed an 11.13. In the second round, had to wait nearly 3-1/2 seconds at the tree. Caught him, went by, got on the brakes, took almost 5mph off, and took the stripe. Too much of it apparently...breakout by .003! Sent me packing:BangHead: for home.

What's it have? (Asking for a friend...)
Turned out, my 1-wire alternator....wasn't. We ran another wire in the harness. It needed to be "excited". It would appear from my little road-trip this past Friday, that all is functioning as it's supposed to. It appears to be a 90-amp Nippondenso.

Was looking at the seat belts in the Dart yesterday and have decided to change them out for new ones probably 57 years old and for safety reasons found some new one on sale

I took a pair of Dana 60 carrier bearing and honed them out .0025". Now they slip on and off the spool with ease.

No telling how many times it will have to come apart to get the correct shim stack on and I sure don't want to be pulling bearings on and off an aluminum spool multiple times

and effect the .0005" press fit.

Its not the age
Its once they fade they are technically no good ...or if the have chafing
So yes ng..
Funny cause on my vert I tell everyone the seat belts are only there so if you crash they don't have to search for dead body's
