Rarest A-Body Option?

-
69 Dart Swinger 340 4 speed. Plain F8 green. Stripe Delete
D2T tan bench seat interior.
Front disc brakes, Rear Drum, manual master cylinder.
A/C w/ tinted glass. Variable speed wipers (3 speed motor w/ variable switch)
Light Group package.

and the weird part:
Rear defrost, AM/FM with 2 rear speakers(odd aluminum boxes to hold both)

Came across this online and I've wanted one ever since. Oh hey, looks like we have a thread about 'em here on FABO, too. Made a screenshot from a YouTube video I found of the cool center console with the tach in it...I WANT ONE!

As an A-body option, it doesn't look too rare on Barracuda.

BUT it does look to be a very rare OPTION on Darts. ONLY a little over 100 69 Darts with that option.

Super Stock cars are NOT AN OPTION. They are an entire model hence the BO/LO vin. M-code is an optional motor. IIRC, about 250-300 Darts and 'Cuda's. But the original poster was not asking about engine/trans options.

What about a tach on a rally dash. I have not seen to many of them that are factory instsalled.

I've seen a quite a few, mostly 340 and 383 cars. My 68 is coded for it. I've even seen a 69 318 coupe 4spd and a 67 273-2 auto with them.

Second generation Barracudas (67-69) have attaching points which show as small divets on the inner panels. I `ve seen one in my life with them.

Just finished my headliner (YEAH!!!!) and I noticed those anchor mounts behing the sail panels too! I never knew they were back there....

Heater delete option is kind of rare. I heard only cars exported out of country or ship to Hawaii could have this option. I had a 68' 4 door dart with this option.

Race only cars were delivered with heater delete and no paint in some cases.

I will disagree with you Redfish. I have had a couple of cars and some guys on the islands have this heater delete option. I will send photo later.

Congrats on getting that headliner in John. Yes the seat belt anchors are there, you just never see `em filled up.

I have 68 Barracuda with factory 383 and it has the red plastic inner fender liners front and rear. Pretty rare here on California A bodies. Probably not so rare back east.

i have two of em, my dart and valiant were ordered heater delete, as was my d400 truck.
i buggered up the valiant's firewall plate with a couple holes to mount the remote filter.
as far as i know they were ordered in florida and hawaii, but not sure about other states... surely not alaska !! lol

the 68 hemi darts had a one piece heater and radio delete plate for the dash, just like the blue example above but w/out radio. certainly this is one of the rarest of pieces to find/replace. imho

theres quite a few over here, vg (69-70) heater delete was common, and the six pack chargers ran an antiquated heater with the same delete plate to clear the webers, can even buy them aftermarket here :)

How about my dads old 73 340 4 speed duster, chrome package, light package, sunroof!, white buckets, white 340 stripes, red exterior, bought new in late 73 in fairfax virginia and traded in 77 for a datson pick up, had to fight to get $900! Wish he still had it, our other 73 340 has a/c.
