It certainly absorbed the impact well...

Sorry about your accident, I did a similar thing years ago, heck, most of us here did.

9 bolts per side to get that off. Also had to take off the air intake and move the computer.

moar pics. So far I have 1 wire harness left to unhook and also the trans cooler lines to the little radiator in the front left.

You guys might want to tread lightly. His name is a killing word after all.

Right down the middle! How fast were you going?

WOW.....you really did smack that pole a good one, glad you did not get hurt, and ya we ALL do dumb things every now and then, and it also good to see someone with a good since of humor ........ after the bashin you got from this thread and did not got mad.......I think thats great,,,,, some on here would have turned it into one of those UGLY threads. AND since you didn't get mad ....I think everyone has gotten at least a good chuckle out of it...................... I know I did.
Good luck fixin it up.......

oh bother.... we all did this when we were his age.... or worse ! ! Glad your ok. Lesson learned. 20 years from now you will be on some forum like this and be sayin the same thing to some young guy.

All I can say..... 1966 Dodge Coronet .... 450 Some odd horsepower....fresh thick blanket of snow on a huge untouched parking lot. Rev her up and let it fly..... KEEEEEEEERUUUUUNCHHHH ........ What the hell was that ??? Ohhhhhh its one of those parking bricks that you couldnt see cuz the snow was taller then it..... ha ha.... got lucky... no real damage just bashed up the frame rails and K member some... oil pan survived somehow.. I am sure cuz I launched off the brick. Lesson Learned.. well... sorta.

Roughly 35-40 mph. after hitting the brakes... They did nothing though so I'm guessing that's how fast I was going before hitting them.

Yo 340plot back off on the kid. I'm not preaching chebbies but my dads first car (and still has it today) is a '57 Belair 4 door hard top with the power pack 283. IMHO it is one of the nicest looking cars of all time. Also we have a '97 Lumina van with the towing package 3.8 liter v6 and that halls ***. We even used it to bring home my 413 engine. By the way 340plot you got to lose that avatar:toothy10:

Ouch dude. Glad your okay. Time to hit the pick and pulls. We ALL have done dumb stuff at one point or another.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I drove a 94 9C1 for a couple of years and then sold it when I bought a 74 Duster. It was an unmarked sheriffs car. It looked like an old man car, but would actually haul some butt and cornered decent for a big car. It was kind of a sleeper and I beat the crap out of that car and it just took it and asked for more. Don't pay any attention to the haters.

This is about what I have done so far. I just have to finish putting in the rad support unit, then I can bolt the bumper back on, put the radiator and condenser, hook the wiring harness back on, and put the body together. not including interior stuff.

Oh, you guys see home plate on top of the engine? That is pretty much useless as it just slows the air down. A guy on the impalaforums has graciously offered to make me a custom etched plug for the hole that would be in the intake after I took home plate off. It's going to be a phoenix. :D

Glad you and no one else was hurt, and making good progress on it.

Had to wait a while to quit laughing after reading this thread. Reminds me of taking a buddy's chevette out on the ice and snow and doing circles on the high school running track in high school... well, until we got off the track and down the hill and through the fence.... if you don't do stupid stuff now and learn, when will you? :)

That sucks man. Sorry to see that but good to here you are ok. Been there done that. LOL It was a good thing I had a Toyota truck to learn to drive with and not my Dart. I crashed it twice. Did about the same thing one time but in the rain. Was looking over my shoulder trying to change lanes. Looked back in front of me and seen a car sitting right in front of me stoped to make a left turn. Slamed on the brakes but still slid right in to the back of the guy. Just one of them things.

Not to mention the 32 valve Ford that is in my Mark VIII. That would motivate a little early A body.

I have that motor in my '95 Continental that I inherited from my mom...they had to DE-tune it to 260 HP for the FWD, and it's still a stupid quick car. Torque steer is a beatch, though...4.6L 32-valve V8 in a front drive car...what were they thinking?

Fun for us is the only word I can say of what they were thinking.

MuadDib,

You want me to take some parts off my boss's car for you ???

8k mile 96 Impala SS

Of course, you would have to support me for the next 6 years and also fund my retirement.

If you need any parts, there is a U-Pull-It 3 miles from me and I get the 'frequent puller' prices.

A picture of the front with the hood open would be nice. I kinda need a picture of where to mount the oil coolers. If you could get two oil (oil and trans fluid) coolers in front and all the brackets to me for under 125, then we're talking.

Also, I believe you asked me that same question a little earlier. And once again the answer is no thanks as I probably wouldn't be able to fund 2 days of your work week with my entire paycheck. :D

You should have seen what I did to my 64 Mercury Monterey the first week I got my license !!!
