    [WANTED] A518 / 727 Inspection Cover w/ a SBM

I’m looking for an inspection cover for an a518 (presumably the same as a 727) transmission with a small block. Preferably one that will clean up nicely without a ton of work. I’m also missing the bracket that goes from the block to the bellhousing. I’m willing to drive up to an hour from...

    I hate BMW’s

Aluminum fasteners, external torx, oil leaks, brittle plastic clips… always a fun time. And still the BMW straight 6 with a manual transmission almost makes up for the pain. I’ve often wondered how had it would be to swap a BMW drivetrain into an A body.

    speedway motors electric brake kit

Interesting. It looks like an electric hydroboost system. I think Ford does something similar on some of the Ecoboost trucks. Let us know how it works out.

[WANTED] 225 /6 hard fuel line Pump to Carb

I got mine from either Classic Industries or Inline Tube. The routing around the carb is likely different depending on if you have a Carter BBS, BBD or Holley.

You did a brilliant job with those. Kudos!

The mystery of the missing oil?

The engine in my 65 dart didn’t have a ton of blow by but drank a quart of oil every couple hundred miles. The rings had almost not tension left and the cylinders were shot. Modern synthetic oil doesn’t burn blue smoke like the good ‘ole days.

Has anybody recently bought a slant six crate engine?

My block has been at the machine shop since before Christmas. Honestly, if they have long blocks on the shelf ready to crate and ship with a warranty then I’d say go for it. If I started the project now I’d likely not see the block again until early summer. My machinist said it was going to...

    Firm Feel Sway Bar

Thanks. My calipers are already mounted rearward. I think it was a happy little accodent that I mounted them the “wrong” way. I’ll give Firm Feel a call after Christmas and see what their lead time is like on sway bars.

Does anyone have any pictures and/or experience with the Firm Feel early A body front sway bar kit? I’m wondering how it compares to the Hellwig 55914 kit.

OMG, that’s awesome. I mean, he put the power snail right where my A/C compressor lives but otherwise, that rocks.

    AAA SUX!!!!

I haven't had a good experience with AAA in the last 10 years or so. Their service went from good to poor (waiting a couple hours) to "We've got nothing available but you can submit a receipt and we'll reemburse you." You used to be able to call in and talk to a person. Now you call, talk to...

    Timing Advance Sanity Check

Bewy - The piece with the 11.5 marking is above the weights. It’s the part the weights are pushing against That has the points cam. The advance seems to stop around 2200 RPM. 1WildRT - I’m kicking myself for not measuring the slots while I had it apart. And I agree, I probably shouldn’t be...

    Boosted slant?

The slant two barrel manifolds used a BBD flange so a 2300 would require an adapter, right? You might want to make sure you have metal gaskets for the adapter since paper will likely get blown out under boost.

    Timing Advance Sanity Check

...with a tape measure and it appears to be 7 inches in diameter but I couldn’t get a good measurement with the A/C belt and pulley installed. 7*pi/360=0.061 in/degree . I took some masking tape, a pair of calipers and marked out advance points up to 30 degrees and used the tape to put paint...
