the speedo needle did not hit the stop because the 66 doesn't have one. So it should be possible to fix the needle as long as it doesn't get too heavy. I was thinking super glue and some construction paper, and the model paint should work well for repainting it so you can;t tell it was broken.

The Super six carbs and the 318 BBDs are different. IIRC the Super Six BBD had a smaller bore in order to get better throttle response. However I've had both in my hands at the same time before and they were not progressive secondary carbs.

i picked up a universal "spectre" one from autozone. Used the universal bracket you can get form the same company and have been plenty happy with it. i think i paid something like $20 for the cable and $10 for the bracket.

i had the same problem with my 66 cuda when i did the same swap your doing. the research i found though all said you would get less nose dive from putting them towards the rear. Not to mention mounted to the front you can't have a sway bar.
