    door weatherstrip help

I feel your pain. I bought a complete set from dixie restorations and had the same damn problem. Of course I had to trim them to fit for length. Called Dixie and they would not take them back after cutting them. Some members said you had to let them form for awhile but after three months my...

help and options highly needed on single stage

Not sure on the DupliColor. I think I would stay away from it. Napa has descent single stage paint at a good price. A quart should be more than enough to paint just the hood. I am no expert. I have only painted one car in basecoat/clearcoat. It came out fairly good for my first paint job. I...

paint job gone bad and need help

My measurements were good. I used ounces. 16 ounces of paint, 8 ounces of reducer, 2 ounces of hardener. Ratio called for 8-4-1. Thanks for all the help. I won't get to talk to the paint store till Monday but, I will post the results.

paint job gone bad and need help

I thought the paint just didn't mix right with cr733 reducer, It is labeled as a moderate reducer. I would guess there is a reason they have different part numbers. Should the paint store be held accountable for this or is it just a lesson learned. I'm thinking they should at least replace the...

paint job gone bad and need help

Part of the whole thing is they gave me a cr733 reducer which is for clear coat. Napa rep told me it can be "substituted for the original cr233 reducer on the spec sheet. Idon't know if it is true or not. I would think the reducers have different part numbers for a reason.

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking about reducing the the reducer a little to help out. It did seem like the paint was very thin.

paint job gone bad and need help

Here are a few pics.....I have several places that look like this. I still have about a half gallon left. Possibly enough to add a few coats when the repairs are done. How long will the paint stay good in the can?

paint job gone bad and need help

Couldn't I use a file to round off the corners on the razor blade? Thanks again everyone. as it looks right now I am going to remove the runs, sand back down to painting standards and reshoot it. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it done before spring or not, the weather is fading fast here in...

paint job gone bad and need help

I started painting my son's 70 mustang(I know) and I'm not sure where I screwed up. It was a single stage urethane crossfire metallic from NAPA. I have runs everywhere. I think I screwed up by trying to lay too much paint on the first coat and using a 1.4 tip. What size tip is correct for single...

    Need some advise. [c.Hopkins]

I'm not sure on pricing but, I would definately go with a shop that you trust to do good work. If 800 is a low price by someone that is just fair at body work then I would be willing to pay an extra 300 if I knew for sure the job was going to be done right or fixed if the customer was not...

    Homemade Paint Booth

I always wet the floor real good and let it dry completely. My paint book says that just wetting the floor and letting it dry bonds the dust and particles to the floor long enough to paint and dry. Of course I try to clean it really good first.

    Windshield Removal '73 Swinger

I would find another "pro". I haven't done a front windshield but I have done the back and it did not break. It was on a 63 dart though. I know there are alot of guys and gals here that have remove and reinstalled windshields without breaking them.

Take the car down to bare metal and start over. Do all the work yourself and then you will know if it's right or not. You could also get a new fender:)

    who has silver a bodies?

Actually there have been studies done on color and how well they blend in. Grey was the worst. Not sure about the silver though. I guess it would be one step up from the grey. I've witnessed it myself about 20 yrs ago when I was stationed out in kansas. I almost pulled out in front of a grey car...

    Body work on my Duster

One thing you should do is pull the door panels off and clean and rust proof the insides. All those years have probably sealed the factory weep hole to drain the water out of the doors. Also there is probably 3 inches of grunge sitting in the bottom. I't's just added insurance that your car...
